Big foot v Big foot on Saturday, the purists final
![]() |
By:
TNT Sports has such a great team (no annoying people like Marion Bartoli or Gigi Salmon) and they they go and ruin it all by bringing in Coco Vandeweghe in the final days
![]() |
By:
I like Marion, even if she talks forever, Pam Shriver is the absolute worst, heard ESPN got rid of her
By:
It's good that these two have made the final though in hindsight, need regular faces to build their profiles up, can't keep having randomers appear then disappear like Paolini, Jabeur, Jess, Kenin, Fernandez etc, player you know are never going to be consistent in making these Major finals let alone win them.
By:
yeah agreed and at least it should make for a good and exciting final even if the road to get there was quite boring (although at least we got some excitement in the 2nd one), much as is the case with the men's.

re Serena I would love for her to come back, if not for the opportunities here. But something tells me it's just for doubles with Venus at best.
By:
I was just watching back the highlights of Ayrna v Serena 5 years ago at the Aussie open, only time they ever met, completely forgot it was in an empty stadium during Covid, that didn't stop Saba screaming 'come on' at the top of her voice after every point, one point in the 3rd set she look straight down Serena's end to scream it, didn't work though she still lost in the end, mug video editors didn't show the handshake, wanted to see if AS was salty. At 39 Serena dealt with her power well. Serena then played Ryba at the French 4 months later in their only meeting and lost, she was pretty much finished by then though, retired after that at Wimbledon R1 due to a thigh injury and missed the rest of the year, Aus and French 22, lost to Tan at Wimbledon 22, bageled in a straight sets lose to Raducanu in Cincy before Alja ended her career at the US Open. If she is coming back, let's hope it is doubles unless she wants to tarnish her legacy, as if losing to Tan wasn't embarrassing enough, I mean who loses to Tan.
This rally would have been what we would have come to expect had they met a good few more times https://youtu.be/3t8Fo5DGlZY?si=smVi39JMF_C30RDv&t=178 |

she did beat the World number 2 at her final event!
But her body kept breaking down at 40, I don't see how it holds up at 44. |

raducanu looking for another coach. again. ridiculous but a good way to blame someone other than yourself for poor performances

Based on Emma's latest quotes, looks like Roig is in for the tin tack. took longer than I thought, she's usually more ruthless and sacks them the day after she wants someone who let's her play an aggressive game, which tbf is what would suit her. |
By:
Only coach who did seem to suit her was Petchy, but he can't commit full time.
By:
she must have realised before roig came in what kind of coach he would be. nadals coach was hardly going to espouse the virtues of first strike tennis which apparently is what raducanu wants to play. looks more and more to me like she's deliberately going through as many coaches as possible in order to drain as much info from them as she can and then on to the next one who has different info to give
By:
I think most people have lost hope in her. She'd be better of just going forwards coachless.
By:
She should try playing like Saba. I thought her message to Roig was nice. Very amicable split.

Strange seeing Korda playing a challenger in San Diego during the Aussie Open. Looked like he might be the new star not long ago.
By:
and playing badly. horror show on serve so far. can barely hit a first serve since the start of the 2nd set and if its a second serve its point lost. immediately a break down in a deciding set to a complete mug and staring at a loss as an enormous favourite. as you suggest toad it's a big fall
By:
blows my mind watching the likes of andreescu and korda turning up at these tinpot tournaments and throwing in shocker performances. if the idea is to build confidence then that means winning when you're supposed to
By:
as a bare minimum. otherwise frail confidence gets shot further surely
By:
23 second serve points in set 2 and set 3 so far. won 3 of them. i would expect better than that is he was playing sinner
By:
korda turns it round and gets the win. no idea what the issue was on second serve which threatened to cost him the match. across the last two sets won a frankly pathetic 6 out of 29 points on it
By:
26k for the winner of San Diego.
101k for losing R1 Australian open I'd have gone on holiday til the French Open. |
By:
exactly mes. motivation certainly not money so that sort of performance from korda makes little sense to me
By:
he's gone there to get some matches and some wins and build confidence. if it was me after that performance against ilagan it wouldn't do my confidence any favours at all

Zverev serving well today.

This is Australian Open, week 2, 2026. We don't really do long epic matches

Cool that we have 3 WTA tournaments next week.

Must be miserable for Zverev. Trying his hardest but not really making a dent

Must be miserable for Zverev. Trying his very hardest but barely making a dent
By:
how many sleepless nights does he have over that clutch backhand from Thiem on match point?
By:
Depends on his outlook/perspective on life. Thiem got that slam bit injury ruined his career. Zverev meanwhile gets an extra 10 years of playing tennis professionally and getting beaten up by Carlos or Jannik at every Grand Slam

True. Feels like Sascha has been around forever, but he's still not even 30.

It seems I was calling the wrong player Man of Steel..
