which is odd because she didn't start the match like that.

he likes simple looking women

remember the whole crowd against her against Li Na at the Oz open, and redfoo the only one standing up clapping, think it was because of a tactical toilet break in the previous match against Sloane

always going to refer to this as the 1.05 final, Iga really wants to dominate this slam like her hero did

a good market for this would have over or under 1 hour for the match

yes. More interesting than match odds. Sadly there would be no liquidity.

I think it's time they made women's finals best of 5 like they used to do for ATP Masters finals, whilst you might still get the same outcome, at least fans in the stadium and at home get more value for money with fitness coming into it later on.

how is 6-2, 6-0, 6-0 more value for money than 6-2, 6-0? And for close matches quality would go down in set 4 and 5, so a close 3 setter would be preferable.

they would do best of 5 for the final of the WTA finals, but there was not much support amongst the players. In particular Graf was against it.

if you're paying for a ticket to see two elite athletes, and you have a choice over 1 hour or 1.30min, you'd choose the latter

Amazing that Iga will pick up as much pay as the men's winner will, apart from one match, she's barely played any tennis! Laugh

Paolini did tremendous to even make the final, and will now be mocked for only winning 3 games against Iga.

Little do the haters know that 3 games against Iga at RG is a tremendous achievement.

If Naomi keeps progressing, Sabalenka isn't on her period next year, with Mirra being one year older and Rebellova finding form again and staying healthy, maybe one of them can put up a fight against Iga next year.

Tennis Updates @TennisUpdates24
Amelie Mauresmo says on Tennis Channel they can't do the night session with an earlier start because people work late in Paris so the crowd would be empty early on.

Says the potential length is why they went with only men's matches, as she's stated the last couple years.

Carlos vs Alex, the winner takes it all !!
By:
stu
When: 09 Jun 24 12:34
Carlos should win this relatively comfortably IMO - if he shows up in top form.

I'd say win in 3 or 4 sets as my guess.

Only slight nagging doubt is the hard game he had v Sinner, but I think it was just about quick enough for recovery time given.

Quick enough for a 5 setter at least...

Katerina Siniakova cements her place as a doubles legend by taking lone lead among the (full time) active women with the most majors in doubles. She broke the tie with the ten years older Hsieh. Out of the non-retired players, only Venus Williams with fourteen cups has more than Siniakova's eight titles.

...and Gauff finally claims her first doubles trophy after a few previously ultimately unsuccessful deep runs, which is probably nice for her as well.

is it too late for Coco switch nationality to Czechia and have a Siniakova/Gauffova pairing at the Olympics?
By:
edy
When: 09 Jun 24 13:13
If I remember correctly, the ITF introduced a Dustin Brown rule a while ago that says players who have represented a country in Davis or Billie Jean King Cup can not wildly switch countries to then represent their new country at ITF country events, which the olympics probably ultimately are.

....and Czechia might have some tougher citizen naturalisation rules to begin with than someone coming along with "Hey, can I please have Czech citizenship? I played Ostrava once and I gel with Katerina Siniakova!"

Yeah it really didn't feel like a slugfest despite the 5 setter

Carlos best is too good for Alex for sure. Though Alex's 5th gear is too good for Carlos in 3rd gear

No financial interest for me as my big outright book bombed sadly Laugh

Not sure though good from Carlos so far - but he has shown dips, so wouldn't be surprised he wins but still drops an odd set here.
