We have advised Naomi Osaka that should she continue to ignore her media obligations during the tournament, she would be exposing herself to possible further Code of Conduct infringement consequences. As might be expected, repeat violations attract tougher sanctions including default from the tournament (Code of Conduct article III T.) and the trigger of a major offence investigation that could lead to more substantial fines and future Grand Slam suspensions (Code of Conduct article IV A.3.).

Good to hear. The self aggrandizing drama queen can be suspended for all I care. She is using the moniker of mental health to get out of her duties. Typical small child behaviour.

About 3 years ago, I found her personality endearing. She's 23 now, so its disappointing to see her acting like a 12 year old.
|
|
By:
If it depresses her, why should she or anyone be forced to do press conferences?
People say it's part of the job, but why? Press conferences are completely irrelevant to the product of tennis. They only exist to keep a bunch of journalists in a job because they never learned a proper job like arbing. |

Just turn up and do a “no comment” job

Tennis loses absolutely nothing if there is never another player press conference ever again.

By:
"Isn't she back in Poland already?"
"She speaks like 25 languages" "She won Madrid and Rome" would not have happened if not for press conferences. |
|
By:
anyway, will be interesting to see what Naomi does. She doesn't strike me as the type of person who blinks first these days.

Who was it recently turned up to his press conference and there wasn’t a single question ?

I'm not about to defend journalists, but I do think press conferences are important because its usually the only way we get to know the players, their personalities. Gone are the days when their personalities were so big it all came out on the court - MacEnroe, Connors, Nastase, etc.
|
|
By:
what happened with Grigor? He used to be in great shape.
|
|
By:
Press conferences are usually bland. Much better way to see the personality is YouTube videos with Australian comedians.
