they're expanding to 48 teams from 2026. So while muggy that makes it easier for the likes of Sweden and Wales to qualify. And Wales's success over the past 6 years will result in lots of Welsh kids wanting to play football, so future is bright, no?

I know, the 48 teams makes it slightly easier. of the 16 extra places I'm not sure how many of those will go to European teams? and yes, the success will result in lots of good youth players hopefully. but it feels like the Gareth Bale era is nearing its end

I guess I shouldn't seethe too much about Europe not getting more spots. While they deserve it, it's usually more fun matches when non-European teams are playing rather than the disciplined Europeans.
