This must be Rafa's easiest Slam along with Roland Garros 2010.

Whats the point of a fist pump when you are sttruggling to win your own serves?

I mean the thing is the matches Nadal was a set down in here were matches he was never losing. He was never losing to Daniel and Mayer.

Mayer was hitting really well tho, if he went 2 down i think hed have lost

This slam has had the worst finals since when? Though maybe you could argue Wimbledon's were even worse actually.

because too many overhyped players who think they're way better than they really are
don't live up to the hype when it counts
leaving the true warriors with lesser oppos to beat
not their fault
they can only beat those put in front of them

was meaning the tournament as a whole, the french was awseome imo, an absolute demolition job from the goat, this tournament has just been terrible with all the injury withdrawals

The men's slams have been crap since AO.

Like all of the others had minimal good matches, and trains at the end to an obvious winner.

In my opinion the way the draws came out destroyed the tournament. There was no one in the bottom half.

Who was the best player in this tourney that could have challenged nadal in a final?

I feel bad for thinking (at the time) that Nishikori v Cilic wasn't much of a spectacle.  That's an all time classic when compared with this garbage.

only player nadal could lose to over 5 sets

I know Anderson's new thing is about fist pumping all the time, but it does look a bit ridiculous when he's getting destroyed.

I'm not sure anyone was able to here. The chance to take him out was in the first rounds, once he got rolling and built up his confidence there was no stopping him. You can say Delpo, but he was likely always gonna be fatigued late on in the tourney.

Lol, Mayer got gassed out by Nadal. no way would Mayer have won, even if he'd somehow fluked the 2nd set.

Think del potro gave nadal more of a game than federer would have

Nadal did look vulnerable early doors so you could theoretically have seen someone beating him then.

He had a very, very soft draw to get going in. I mean he was playing clay court challenger players for 3 rounds pretty much.

But it's looked a Nadal train in 2nd week. Federer was playing terrible.

The idea of this is that Nadal wins the US Open playing a beatable standard so it encourages people like Raonic/Kyrgios/Zverev to come out firing at the Australian Open.

Nick could beat this Nadal IF he wasn't so injury prone and lazy.

so even in a year where Fed wins 2 Slams and has a 100% record against Rafa so far, Rafa still remains a threat to overtake his Slam record.

Murray and Djokovic have been out of the equation all year long, Federer bottled the clay court season, skipped the French and beat an injured Cilic in the final, Wawrinka was awful in the final against Nadal (didn't have much choice) and now we end with this procession, it has been a bleak year but the women's has hardly been better, Azarenka hasn't really been on the scene since her part time come back, Sharapova's comeback has been thrawted due to lack of wildcards and match fitness coming into this slam, Serena won a slam when pregnant aged 35, Muguruza beat her 38 year old sister at Wimbldon, Penko won a slam with the worst second serve I've ever seen from a slam champion and Sloane beat a crate load of bang average players in the grand scheme of things to win at Flushing Meadows (plus an OAP Semi GOAT).

We haven't had two players in a slam final at peak age playing peak tennis.

I dunno, 3 is a lot at his age. In Nadal's mind he had a huge chance to make it 1. I still think 3 is way too big. I doubt Nadal even wins 3 more.
