SabineIsGOAT, do you prop your laptop up on something, or do you have it stuck on like a bed or sofa.
By:
could probably even get a more than suitable used core2duo business craptop for about 100 quid on ebay. Won't have fancy USB3 out of the house of course which is a big shame.
By:
or a shiny new laptop for 250-300 quid if you don't want to play new games
By:
listen to edy, zig. he will point you to the light
By:
zig doesn't wanna spend the money because he'd rather use it to fund his Sugarpova addiction, NAP.
By:
I know, that's why I suggested getting one from ebay.
By:
I prefer to buy new things only when it's absolutely necessary, plus because I'm lazy
By:
lots of used business laptops on there.
By:
one day the craptop will cost you over 1000 yen and then you'll be sorry
By:
don't want to transfer or reinstall your crapdows?

what kind of specs (CPU and RAM) does your current craptop have?
By:
SabineIsGOAT when you get a new laptop, buy a can of compressed air from Macro or somewhere like that.
Blow the vents of the laptop out like once every few months (while it's turned off/in hibernation, don't do this while it's active). Then put it on something that props it up. I have my laptop on a tissue box lol, but a tray is probably preferable. Your laptop then shouldn't overheat. |
By:
It's the 2nd line why laptops overheat. Because the vents get filled with dust, but if it's already coated it will be too late for compressed air to work. You would have to open it up manually and remove it, which is reasonably complicated, and varies on how to do it from laptop top laptop.
By:
could try that compressed air thing with his current craptop too
By:
I started having problems with the fan like 6 months ago, it's apparently a common problem with this model
By:
from craptop to craptop*
By:
I've cleaned out the vents/try and keep it propped up etc
By:
He can but if it's coated, it won't work. An air compressor probably would. But a) he probably doesn't have an air compressor and b) I wouldn't recommend it because it could damage the fan as it has too much force.
By:
if I leave it on the bed for 5 minutes it's in danger of going into mug mode though
By:
If the fan is just busted then yer your laptop is done short of getting a new fan.
By:
zig, you need to replace the craptop
By:
ok, then you'll have to open it. Always nice to learn new things about electronics

By:
stop being such a zig, zig.
By:
should be able to buy a laptop and expect it to last more than a year before it starts mugging
By:
