BTW, good to see the ATP finalists finally make the case for equal prize money with the women. |

I'd like to hear from just one non-ATP player why they actually care to bring that up all the time? What do they hope to gain? Lower ranked male players, if we assume they don't miraculously make the semis or better, wouldn't benefit one bit, nor would ticket buyers. So what is the point?
By:
yep no idea why people care

Is it simply for the very honorable fight for justice? If so..I think there are bigger injustices they could spend their time on

2 weeks a year analysts basically

a lot of people thought that was a great final...yet their first thoughts are to slag the women and equal pay
By:
the winners get about £1.7m each, would they all suddenly be happy if the woman got 1m and the man got 2.4m?

my quite charming and at times very, very dry humour doesn't always come across as such on a forum I see

I can actually understand if a Simon makes that case (though I'd question if he sells that many tickets outside of France or his matches generate much revenue), he's directly involved and it does concern him, but I just don't get why viewers and fans are always so very keen on that debate at every damn major.

really what should happen is that we give Nadal, Djokovic, Muzz, Fed, Serena and Maria 95% of the prize money. now that is fair
By:
Not sure if Murray should even be in that group of global icons if we're talking for tournaments outside of England

true

basically the whole ticket sales/popularity thing applies to a select few imo. otherwise a #7 vs #15 I don't think would be clearly more popular on either side
By:
Murray pretty popular in the US I think

Wonder if WTA Bucharest will be better attended than the ATP version, even though weather is supposed to be brutal (i.e nobody would normally want to sit in the stands in those conditions and be at the black sea instead)

I remember at a wta event last year they paid two atp muggers to play an exhibition, Tomic and someone I think

or in a nicely air conditioned room

I thought that was a nice gimmick. I would've taken it as a spectator. WTA Canada is generally well attended though iirc
