N88, I never said once that he is better overall,
I was talking about your quote that Novak has never dominated him which is clearly bollox after beating him 7 finals in row including 3 slam finals as well as having a better h2h record in finals, The 8-3 slam finals thing, You are talking about the greatest of all time on clay - 5 of those 8 were on clay, 1 at wimbledon Novak retired, 1 at RG. |

rafa will come back "refreshed" for the clay season

Mesmerised this was my full sentence:
Nadal still leads the head to head and apart from 2011, Djokovic has never really dominated him, and Nadal has won way too many of the big encounters. |
|
By:
Eg. last year Djokovic in what should be his prime years still lost to Nadal in a grand slam final on hard court.

By:
shameful play by Nadal.

Nevermind the h2h you're going back to the days when they played 10 times by the time they were 21, Novak has progressed to much since then.
overall h2h is meaningless in some cases - Tim Henman beat Federer SIX times in a row when fed was inexpereinced, Federer won the next 7 ![]() The big encounters include masters finals as well as slams, and like I say the FO plays a big part in the slam record - nadal being the true goat on clay. Even these days Novak has got much closer to him on the surface, last year FO could have gone either way and he stopped RN from winning 8 MC 1000 in a row. Last 9 finals = Novak 5-4 |
|
By:
It's meaningless in some cases. Henman and Federer were from a different generation. Nadal and Djokovic are from the same generation pretty much.
And I don't really include masters finals in the big encounters these days, especially since they moved to best of 3 sets. Best of 3 sets is really a total different ball game to best of 5 sets. Nadal is also notoriously a guy who peaks for grand slams. |

Nadal has won 26 masters titles more than anyone in history, he cares a lot about them and always peaks for them.
The overall h2h cannot be taken as gospel as who is actually better, surely you realise how simple that is, the pre 2011 Novak never had the same stomach for the fight with all the retirements, and then there was the whole diet/gluten thing he changed (yes possibly linked) and hasn't looked back. The 7 final wins in a row is record in their match ups anyhow, Nadal has never beat home more than 5 times consecutively. Semantics anyhow, people analyse the same thing and deduce from it the way they either want to or genuinely see it, latter for me as I'm no Novak fanboy or a Nadal hater. |

By:
nadal will dominate the clay season
|

That number is a little misleading in that Nadal has been able to rack up an incredible number on clay. You think about the others and often Nadal goes into them in bad shape (especially the post-USO ones). Nadal wins on clay even when below his best, I remember him being sub-par pretty much all clay season last year, yet he comes out with it with a F, W, W from the masters. He wouldn't get away with such a level on hard court.
And oh yer I agree overall head to head isn't everything, even just head to head's don't mean anything in context. Some people just have a better match up vs others. On your last point, you are right, and I believe you. There are others with clear agenda's though. |

By:
He has never played well in Paris or the WTF because he is not a good indoors player. I would also hazard a guess Shanghai has not been his best performances because after 10 months on tennis playing the well he does, he's a little bit worn out. Lucky for the masters Clay court season in within he first 5 months but as for the overall GOAT status, the most boring in Tennis, I would say Barry Cowan deserves a shout, not many players have taken two sets of Sampras at Wimbledon.
