bunch of mugs won slams pre-GOAT post-Pete

Evidently I do like the Nadal-Djoko matchup most out of the big 4 personally. Murray-Djoko is the one I hate the most. It's long rallies, but to me it's just a push fest. USO was full of long rallies where both were literally doing nothing with the ball. Not my cup of tea.

i like federer nadal on grass also, long time it happened last time thou

why not i still think federer may hit better form later in the year

Yes I remember Sky salivating over some rallies really which were nothing just because neither was actually doing anything, it was just pushing down the middle of the court for 30 strokes, not trying to construct anything.
There is a far wider range of style of matches in WTA than ATP. You'll also get the biggest naysayers moan how like Serena won 6-0, 6-1, but that is just because the womens game is different. You don't get as many easy games, so it's easy for the better to player to thoroughly dominate. It's no different to watching the big 4 beat some mug 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 or whatever. Just because you got a couple of games doesn't make it competitive if you were never actually in the match. |

By:
Nadal once won 6-3 6-1 6-0 in a slam final, was all about him while I imagine WTA finals that have finished that way were all about how bad the WTA is
By:
last two womens slam finals were more interesting than the mens, though admittedly they were DjokoMurray finals

Like I said before, we are told before nearly every grand slam, oh it's going to be a Serena train, when was the last time Serena was just a complete train to the title? Wimbledon 2010 probably.
By:
it was almost a serena train at USO
By:
Almost then it took a derailment to 7sville.
By:
This event could be similar to the USO in that there Serena's price kept coming in all fortnight because she was winning easily and looking good. But she had an easy draw and was beating nobodies easily. She has an easy draw here too.

Current WTA is rubbish, nobody even bets on it. Take a look at how much gets matched in the French Open 1st and 2nd round match hardly anything. Stick to posting your cat pictures.
As for aarong comparing Clijsters coming back after 2 years out and having a child to win the US Open to Nadal who had 7 months out and reached the finals of small tournaments against likes the Zeballos, the less said the better. |
By:
I'm currently standing in front of the train with big liabilities. The train is moving fast but is still a long way off. A de-railment would be nice but sometimes you only need a few leaves on the track.

and how does how much people bet on it relate to the quality of it

baltacha v erakovic set betting gbp matched 48. same story in many more.
if it's a rubbish match in store people are less likely to bet on it. |
By:
that's £48.00. And it's scheduled to start next match up.
By:
(Forty eight pounds).
By:
well it's not because it's been cancelled for the day
By:
30k matched on the match odds in that match though, the reason why nothing is getting matched in that set betting market is because everyone is trying to take massive edges for themselves
By:
And congrats on picking a secondary market in one of the biggest mug matches of the day that hasn't even started yet and has been postponed in order to 'illustrate' your non-existent point
By:
It's the same in a lot of them. Have a look through them today and tomorrow, you'll be able to spot a pattern.
By:
I don't mean to be rude but there's multiple amounts matched on ATP games compared to WTA. Some WTA matches in early rounds have next to nothing on them.
By:
There is going to be some variance here and there but look at two matches currently in-play both about 4-4 in first set
Kohlschreiber v Vessely 450k match odds 4k set betting Cornet v Koehler 330k match odds 7k set betting Not really all that different, and Kohlschreiber is a much bigger name than Cornet. I can find a bunch of matches featuring ATP mugs like Kubot where only 1k has been matched on the set betting. Sure, that's more than the few hundred that has been matched on most of the less notable WTA matches, but a few hundred versus 1-2k in most cases isn't that much difference. It's still insignificant volume. The set betting money usually turns up in play, and set betting rarely has very much volume traded in these lesser matches. |
By:
R u on the wind up, u can't just look at one match. I'll do an analysis when I get time for tomorrow's matches and get back to you.
If you're betting it matters how much has been matched because if no one bets anything you can't make any money. |
By:
the french open's been really quiet most likely because of no pictures, wimbledon will illustrate the massive difference in betting.
By:
No, but I can't be bothered to look through all the matches.
12m matched on Bartoli match odds btw. |
By:
R u on the wind up, u can't just look at one match.
says the person who picked the most obscure match on a backdoor court |
By:
There's loads like the one I chose. How is it obscure, it's a british betting exchange a brit playing?
I'm going now, got bets to sort out. Bye, bye. |
By:
It's true what he says to a degree, most of the obscure WTA matches have a few hundred on set betting right now whereas the ATP one have 1-2k. But that's not a lot of total volume, and not a lot of difference when you think about the total volume of money that is swishing around on these matches in the match odds.
You can say that set betting is not very liquid, and it does appear to be slightly more liquid in the men's than the women's, but on the whole it's like saying that one mouse is bigger than another mouse. It's still a mouse. The real problem is that there's not a lot of interest in the set betting full stop (in the less notable matches). |
By:
be careful with the mouse!
By:
Kubot v Teixeira had a little over 1k pre-off on set betting, Baltacha v Erakovic had £48.
Now, with the men's match in the second set but the women's still fairly early in the first, they've pretty much got the same amount matched. Another scenario supporting the idea that no-one lumps on set betting in mugfests pre-match. |
By:
(And the women's match has caught up)
