I wanted to post a thread about this myself.
And no i am not "seething" because i didnt back Murray in this match or anything, but i have in fact been closely following Djokovics physical fitness, stamina and endurance for the last few years. Here is an interview right after winning a match against Jarrko Nieminen in Basel, early november 2010, he looks exhausted to the point that he is hardly breathing and standing on his legs... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_IR5va5Qhk after playing only two sets? really? funny thing is that from the beginning of 2011, he looks a lot fresher then that even after playing 5 sets after 5 sets...last year for example he beat Rafa in the classic final right after that extremely exhausting 5 set match against Murray :) I am not accusing him of anything as a fact, YET. Just pointing out some interesting facts. My opinion is that he is not clean. What do you think? :) |

you haven't got a clue about the mechanics of doping if you think his eyes are a giveaway. You can dope with oxygen vector drugs like EPO, AICAR and do blood transfusions and not have any trace in your system come competition day. In-competition tests are more like an IQ test than a dope test - you have to be an idiot to get caught ie you'd have to be an idiot to be 'glowing' during a tournament, there is no need.
I don't think today showed any obvious signs of doping really, but that doesn't mean he is not dirty. Look at the last year's AO if you are looking for extra-terrestrial performances. I do not believe the egg or gluten stories either. |
By:
the EGG is legal
By:
so is a gluten free diet but i don't believe they can have such a massive effect on performance
By:
i dont believe that either DJOCKY OR NADAL are clean

interesting interview that, only one month before the start of his run (davis Cup)

i think that murray, nadal and djok are not clean
By:
yes i'd agree with all 3 JK. and i think the brits have become v dirty the last year. olympics, cycling etc etc. they are like the spanish now

By:
why would u tink murrays not clean? he clearly tired today? I aint seen djocko tire in ages. possibly last time v nadal last year in aus.
By:
murray has injured his feet
he wasn't too tired |
By:
today they've televised how djoko's team was adding something to his drinks. did you saw that?
i saw same stuff last year from murray's team. they also were adding something to his drinks on tv |
By:
yes i saw the stuff being added today aswell. perhaps because of armstrong were all paranoid about it now
By:
today's doping techniques are not like 20 years ago. they give a 15% increase in endurance and that is huge. once any one of the 3 is at it then it's highly probable the other 2 are or they couldn't compete over 5 sets. I reckon Nadal has been at it for years (Spanish highly suspicious for years and more advanced than other countries at it) and Djok and Murray realised this a couple of years ago.
JK i'd doubt the stuff in the drinks is dope, you can take all dope pre-competition and be clean in-comp but still retain all the benefits. that's why in-comp testing rarely catches |
By:
i'm not saying that it was doping but this kinda strange i think.
i think that murray was injured 'coz i saw same stuff from him against nadal at wimbledon in 2011 he won 1st set and then broke nadal in the 2nd and then he injured his feet and lost same stuff here. |

have a look at this video http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/olympics/athletics/7403158.stm
this is the guy who doped marion jones for years and got her around the tests. a good insight into how and when it is all done - pre-competition |
By:
interesting video and article
atp needs to do something not sure that they want to. looks like they don't want scandals.. |
By:
yeah fourth quarter, when all the slams are finished and competition stops
By:
the missed tests are the key here - you can miss 2 - falsify your whereabouts and this is not published. just make sure you're available and clean for the third. than after 18 months the counter resets and you get your 2 strikes back. i would bet the majority of the world's sports stars are doping.
By:
what a load of krap, if you saw Murray`s training regime you would realise the effort he puts in to get to his level of fitmess, im sure Nole and Nadal the same, these guys are tested mant times out of competition during the year, if Federer suspected anything he would be down on them like a ton of bricks.
By:
puggy you are cluless, look a the ITF stats for ooc tests as well as their budget. Djoko just came out and told everyone that he hasn't had an ooc blood test in 7 months. And they don't even test for EPO in competition.
Yes the 3 strike system is a joke, particularly when most players don't get 3 ooc tests in 18 months! If a player misses an ooc test during their whereabouts hour then they should have to submit to a test within 12 hours or the missed test is made public. If they do not then a second ooc test should be sought the next day and every day until they either get a sample or the 3 strikes are up and a ban ensues. They need to target these players and players putting in unusual performances or jumping up the rankings out of nowhere like errani |

What a load of bollox. every time someone wins from now on they have to be on drugs.
Seething mugs pissed off they lost there dole money if you ask me |
By:
im not seething 1 bit. and im a big nadal fan. but u have to really consider that these players might be on something. Federer 31 and i have never seen him sweat. nadal an absoloute beast who can last 5 hours and 2 days later do something simalr. djocko who i think is the strongest contender for this give up gluten in his diet after years of retiring injured or completly exhausted is now superhumn and can outlast even the beast that is nadal.

By:
i didn't lose money today, i had green on both. and today's performance was not suspicious from either player. But the suspicious performances are not just your normal 5 setters or serve fests like you used to get at wimby, the courts have been slowed so that there are longer rallies and more and more 5 hour matches and then same again a couple of days later. what we are seeing is unprecedented energy levels & not normal imo.
By:
Murray is right up there with Nadal and Djokovic if we talk stamina and speed.
By:
wow who else lost a ton of cash on this match like me??

and look at all the tennis players on twitter giving out about a '6AM wake up from doping control'. They call at 6AM because you put that time down on your whereabouts form FFS. Always wonder about these guys, they should be happy to undergo tests and have a clean sport, small price to pay for a life most people only get to dream about.

will Adidas come up with a shoe that prevents blisters

look at all the tennis players on twitter giving out about a '6AM wake up from doping control'
ITF's own stats show this only happens an absolute maximum of 3 times a year for the players and most not even once. Williams sisters not tested at all out of competition in 2011. ITF records a grand total of 21 blood tests out of competition in 2011 for ALL tennis players. Only 3 of these were women. |
By:
I'm sorry but if 2 seething gamblers have worked it out so would the thousands of people involved in tennis. Next you will be saying its a mass cover up.
By:
Nothing to cover up they don't do meaningful testing so noone gets caught
By:
withdrawal of sponsors, public humiliation, possible titles being stripped, lengthy ban, loss of revenue, disgust from the other players , why would Nadal , Nole or Murray risk such a thing.
By:
thats a fair point.
By:
why would Nadal , Nole or Murray risk such a thing.
There's no risk - that's the point. Do it right and you won't get caught. |
By:
Why did Lance Armstrong do it?
To put himself in a position to win titles and get the sponsorship and revenue in the first place. Personally I can't have Murray is doping. If he is he's the worst advertisement for it ever given he usually looks knackered just stepping out onto the court. |
