People are saying that the keeper was the key player for England through the tournament. And saved pens. So if she had saved a pen as the final action of the final, she'd probably be atop of the market instead.

Good point about knowing which player - some of the England players are now still massive prices, as they won't be the 'one' now.

Kelly and Hampton can’t do anything to improve their situation now. And yesterday seems to been seen as a group win rather than individual…Bronze playing with fracture, Goalie making 2 pen saves, agyemang arguably kept us in comp twice and Kelly scoring winning pen after pen against Italy. Vote could be easily split across any 2 noms.

Even though Cider doesn’t think anyone has heard of Ryder cup it will have a massive influence on this market. Away on US soil would be massive win and Rory who is housewife’s fav golfer.

Also coverage will be all over BBC Tv and radio. Consolidated highlights I’d imagine.

Europe lose that and Rory has uphill battle.

earps won for saving a pen in a final england where played off the park and effing and blinding at one of the spanish players. by that standard kelly is head and shoulders above

The number of people who would have their vote influenced by the Ryder Cup outcome would be so low, it would be a statistical irrelevancy. I said less than half the voting audience would know what it is. Not that nobody knows. Maybe the market would get giddy, it's immaterial to the actual outcome though.

Totally disagree. Ryder cup team will be all over the coverage and headline sports news for 4-5 days. Your half who have no idea will have to go camping to miss updates Laugh

In most years if Europe won in US they would be there or thereabouts to win team award. Obviously not this year but will get a huge VT if they win.

Of course it’s Europe but you get my point. It will be heavily featured as multiple British players.

Not really getting your point at all, Hibore Grin

It's become common place now that Europe win the Ryder Cup. They've won 10 of the last 14. 4 of them in the US.
It will be a great 3 days of sport, but no big deal if Europe win and more or less an irrelevance when it comes to who wins Spoty

Rory wins or loses it based on his grand slam

It's not 1985. When we hadn't won it for getting on for 30 years. Not sure if a golfer was nominated that year, but there wasn't one in the top3 of spoty

The last golfer to win was Nick Faldo in 1989. After his amazing come from behind win, against Greg Norman. Shown live on the BBC (I assume)

1/2 voters don’t know what Ryder cup is ? That sums up the intelligence of the posters on this thread.

Well, it would be a true test of the old SPOTY vote vs the new SPOTY vote, to see how Rory vs the Lioness plays out either way.

Surely split vote is a major concern if both Kelly and Hampton are nominated. One was discarded and written off in February and other has an eye condition that made football impossible. Both have stories that will attract votes.

Lando and Littler get nom. On top of that it’s hard to be be sure…bronze is also possible.

As Stu says it’s Rory vrs Girls.

Rory can improve position with winning tours and Ryder Cup so think he’s the pick at this stage.

Nice to have differing opinions.

I think people will only see who put the penalty away to win euros

I made Kelly fav  so took the 2/1 on Sunday. My reasoning is that MacIlroys win was watched on Sky , so a couple of million  would have watched , and the feel good factor was for the player himself, and two days later , everybody has moved on. The Euros win was watched by over 10 million , just on BBC , and the whole country has a feelgood factor. England just don't win football tournaments, we are usually unlucky ! Just my opnion , could be totally wrong . Lando could be the danger , there are a hell of a lot of petrol heads , who often don't like many other sports. Racing Drivers have a great record over the years ,def worth a saver at current odds !

15.6m over the two channels, vs 1.85m rory

I was surprised it was that many watching the golf

1) Dutch Kelly and Hampton
2) Sit back, relax
3) Collect

Tiny risk there in that bronze has a lot of press.  I think more lioness noms would just mean more names above rory in the results. Lando the only threat. Roughly 3.0 to win

Kelly has the redemption story and is the face of the Euros win. I can't escape her online. Don't forget she also won the champions league with arsenal

From reading the comments under this post, she also has the Reform and EDL vote . No idea what her politics are. I doubt she has any and fairly certain she won't be with them when they try to burn down another refugee hostel, but all helps her vote, I guess

Interesting that the great patriotic channel, GB News, didn't carry the London parade live. Unlike the BBC and Sky. They had Farage warbling on about something instead

Personally I think Kelly is a great lay. Lots of negatives on social media for her. In terms of who should get it. Many are saying Hampton as she was the one who technically won it for them. Kelly only had to score. If wasn’t for Hampton, then kelly wouldn’t have got the recognition she has had.
