I'd be interested in Aspinall as a sporting achiever, but sadly far too much testosterone for the SPOTY and beeb voting I would guess.

They probably won't even bother listing him.

Lando improving
Draper shoite
Radders vg but not enough
Radgey little sonay needs listing

That concludes the news

Lionesses poor start.

Dreadful, couldn't have argued with about 4-1. Carter, hampton quite a few utter ****. Mead looks finished
Lando much improved though worth noting pastry would have won without his crazy braking incidenf

Aye, a cracking performance Cool

Not sure what happened in that first game. Slow in and out of possession. Maybe just nerves. I think we made the French look better than they actually are

The 300+ layers on Lauren James in a panic now. Arguably the most naturally gifted female footballer in the world atm.
Russo had another good game. Just a shame she's scored twice now and both times someone else was offside

They've been poor. If you think James is the best in the world you need to watch a few spain games.

I predict trouble against italy given the exertions and extra day of rest for the eyeties.

Ps, really I'm just winding bear up :)

James vs sweden though, second to every ball.  The skills are great but you have to win the ball to use them

I thought she was decent against Sweden. Apart from the penalty miss and not really creating anything. She did  actually bother to do some defending though Grin

Bronze clearly in prime position now, if they can pull off an unlikely win. Could even get a nom if they make the final, given how long she's been around. And they really should make the final now. Italy are no great shakes. Were lucky to beat a very poor Norway

I can't have the hamster. Earps was a one off and it's only her first tournament
Russo unlikely now unless she starts scoring.

Kelly the fairytale winner, if she comes off the bench and wins the Euros again for England, as she did in 2022

Lionesses into final but no stand out performers to get spotyists excited.

Rory has decent week at open without
anything special,

Kelly with the winning pen. It is hers. She also won the champions league and is prime candidate for Balon D Or

Kelly surely nailed on for the nom. And she wins

Prices are mad. Rory was going to struggle anyway. Perhaps the market is concerned with a potential split vote. I doubt the bbc would fall into that trap.

Kelly surely. Have they had a player of tournamemt though?   Could bring bronze back in

The BBC aren't going to want Rory to win anyway. I doubt Rory gives a shyte about it either. Could easily be beaten by two England players if both of the likely ones were nommed. I can't see a likely scenario that sees him winning.

Yep, Golf vote has proven to be soft over the years. Hard to see anyone but a Lioness winning and hard to see anyone getting the nom.
Scored the winner at the last euros. Scored the winning penalty. Plus set up all of the important late goals

Rory still clear fav. Women’s Euros not quite like winning golf grand slam.

Ryder Cup will be big decider this year. If we win Rory is 1.01 if we lose then he could be 2/1+

Reminds me of the Xmas #1 market, outside of that I can't recall a specials market as upside down as this. It is akin to the time when the market was based on downloads when streaming had become the critical factor. People seemingly still betting on antiquated factors.

I'd venture more than half the people voting Hibore wouldn't be able to tell you what the Ryder Cup is.

The motivation to vote as well, is all with female sports, still. The only chance Rory has is the split vote I touched on, and even then I'd want 10+

Lionesses an inspiration to women, like no other female sports person or team. I think whoever gets the nom should be well odds on

I'm with you on Luke. I'm surprised he's not favourite

I love my athletics but most people don't give a fook about it these days

2 winners of SPOTY in the last 20 years. One of them a double Olympic champion after a long career full of injuries and near misses
The other one a double double Olympic champion, at the end of his career

Luke had a housewife appeal, his narrative was outside of darts really, he was a major news story. But you sensed that auntie would not want him to triumph. There's no such narrative for Rory, it's an implied lifetime achievement. But the people who know the significance won't be watching or voting.
