Too ill-defined to judge IMO - i.e. what would be a 'serious' campaign or not, and whether it would still translate to TV votes or not etc etc
By:

Of course personally I think 'not enough'

At least you answered honestly and not a straight No, like most of the forum was expecting Laugh

I believe a campaign on SM for Luke would spread like wildfire and be very serious, translating to an emphatic landslide win...but i guess im biased

Problem is someone like Keely doesn't need a campaign to get masses of votes on the night. And she will.

Does Luke need a campaign ? i still think he'll vote extremely well without one. The only two campaigns i recall in recent times are Skelton started by his horse racing Sons and Sinfield, darts has never won spoty and has really only been recognised as a sport in recent times.
Would dart fans get behind a campaign ? i think they would as SM has made it easier than ever
The big question is, would a campaign start ? as darts has a chance to finally be recognised in a big way i think a campaign is inevitable.

There's really been no need for a decent spoty campaign of late with most winners decided well before hand, whilst others didn't do anything to be lorded over.

It feels right for one that is long overdue, i think the merest mention online of a Luke campaign will spread quicker than COVID. Whether we want one or not, its very highly likely he does get one.

I have massive doubts about your claims about any campaign spreading for him personally. I don't think either SPOTY or Darts is so massively popular to make that big a difference to this TV vote. Yes, it may get him a few added votes, but not enough to win (IMO) anywhere near in fact. Not when she scrapes up a huge chunk of the 2.9 million watching the programme. Which she will.

I think a campaign will surface after the documentary finishes airing personally and will take hold until the night, as many people will realise he deserves it.

you live in the past that athletics is the be all and end all of spoty and no other sport is allowed to catch up or be voted for en masse. Things simply don't stay the same. Darts is coming to have a piece of the pie, the biggest piece !!!

Show any proof in terms of this actual vote (specific to the TV vote on the night), and I'd listen, not just speculation.

Anyway, said enough about it, will leave you to it for now - proof is in the actual pudding of who wins it.

sorry, just to add one point - it's not 'athletics' I think it big it's the 'Olympics', and the story of a star female young athlete - that, is big for this audience/voter group.

Sinfield managed 278,000 votes from a very well organised campaign from his rugby league background. Even the bbc highlighted how good it was post award. He definitely managed a decent cross over with union to grab votes from rugby in general. Scholes and wilkinson even made a youtube video asking for votes. This campaign would not of hit the wider masses of the UK outside his beloved Leeds. 9 years have passed since then and SM is bigger than ever.

Luke adopting such a campaign would significantly tap into the wider public imo, tapping into many more outside of darts than Sinfield managed outside of Rugby. The amount of random people that got behind Luke for that final was proven by the viewing figures that came though. Doubling the 2 million from the previous years final on Skysports and now. That equates to a lot of non dart fans so to speak who embraced the kids journey. A campaign would reignite those memories no doubt.

Hey Hib, every time im in a pub and see someone playing darts..im gonna say Luke will be getting a campaign for spoty. pass that on to the team and keep a look out for it. I'll tell enough people in enough pubs that someone will inadvertently start the campaign for me.

its ok i only go in around 20 to 30 pubs a day, and as ive told a few of my work colleagues around the country that all do the same as me. Thats a fair few hundred pubs a week. I estimate we can cover enough pub dart teams to let word of mouth cover the rest in a very short amount of time. Anyone up for a Luke Littler CAMPAIGN for SPOTY. I AM Excited

I suppose to get the ball rolling, it would just be easy to ring all the places from the bbc articles that are 'inspired' by what Luke has done this year and mention it would be nice if Luke had a campaign to help him win SPOTY. Im sure his coach from his old club would be well up for that. im on a roll now, a campaign has to start somewhere stu. Its so fitting you and Hib have been there from the start Love

You really are clutching at that one straw

PDC documentary airs
Panini release trading cards

The growth of darts going through the roof the same time the bbc write endless Luke Littler articles, its almost like the bbc have something lined up with the PDC as well.

Not getting nommed lol keep clutching

You love a good campaign don't you Jim ?

It will take off pretty easily don't you think ? A 17 year old who has transcended his sport, inspiring thousands of young kids and adults into the sport.

The media and his new A-List friends will quickly jump on board, tweeting there hoards of followers. As Paul, Jonny and many others did for Sinfield.
I can see the Sun, his favourite rag fully on board.

Only the layers would begrudge a kid helping other kids !!

Considering what he has already done for Kids and what he continues to do for kids, there is more chance of stu and Hib marrying each other on Callisto than Luke being left off the list.
The bbc have tarnished themselves so much in recent times, this is the good news story they can't afford not to be a big part of.

What's considered higher in today's society

Someone winning a gold medal or a kid putting smiles on the faces of thousands of other kids ?

I'd say there is a very strong chance all, a lot or some of these packed out new dart clubs around the country arrange video's of the kids all cheering for there hero with chants of 'VOTE LUKE' directed into the camera.

Only one club would need to start the ball rolling for others to quickly jump on board, then the media and BOOOOOOM

Turkey and ice cream for and a brand new dartboard as well Excited
