I wonder what happens with my Netherlands last place bet happens now (that I didn't bet because limits for me everywhere is awful including here). It was 34 at Bet3.65 when I posted about this.

DQ's in ESC are so unfathomable they're not even covered/specified in the rules.
By:
they might just remove NL and not consider them part of the final for Last place market. Whereas with outright bets a lay should be paid out.
By:
I'd say most likely to be a loser on here, as it will be a dq rather than a placing. But not going to risk money on a guess!
By:
This should also mess with jury votes since juries voted on Joost's song last night. And I think Rest of The World tele votes as well.
By:
I layed Netherlands quite large in the top 10 market so got lucky there. Think it was a great value lay before the incident but since it there was quite a lot of traction and support for him which would have really hindered my bets chances.
The market is convinced the Jury's aren't voting for Israel and are voting for Croatia. They're heavy favourites in the televotes. You get the feeling they want Croatia to win ideally (Switzerland and France next) and really don't want Israel or Ukraine to win. |
By:
1.5x in the Televotes yet 5.0 outright whilst Croatia 1.8x
With objective jury's listening to the first time you could easily make a case for Israel being Croatia in the jury votes. The discrepancies in prices are quite something |
By:
Not just the juries is it, but the scale of the televote victory (if indeed it goes to Isr). Anything on Ukr 2022 scale practically nullifies anything the juries do to throttle Isr.
By:
I think the belief is Croatia will do quite well with the jurors (did well in the OGAE poll (there's usually some correlation), did well in press poll, whereas with Israel there is a huge unknown really but a feeling there could be anti Israel bias. So Croatia is expected to do well both with the televote and the jury, whereas Israel in the televote only.
By:
It worked out perfectly for Eden's chances, the conspiracy theorists / anti Semites have surfaced back out in force, of course somehow pinning Joost's alleged aggression to a female on Israel.
By:
Croatia 1.86
Israel 4.2 Swiss 6.8 |
By:
In theory, shouldn't many of Joost's televotes go to Croatia rather than Israel? Joost was never a threat to win the whole thing due to belief he would do poorly with jurors, so not sure this DQ is a good thing for Israel.
By:
The siege mentality dynamic is much more powerful now. It's quite incredible really how seemingly normal people can lose all rationality over a kid aged 20 participating in a song contest the revels in diversity and inclusivity. Even if they hate Israel and hate Jews, do they not think they are playing a part in trying to destroy a young woman. Some of the stuff I'm reading is mind blowing.
By:
And that goes for many stakeholders directly involved in the event. Participants, reporters, commentators et al.
By:
Netherlands would have got some jury votes but dq takes them
down to nule pwonts, could still be joint last, of course. But I'd expect a void bet, all the same good luck. |
By:
Don't read it cider, it's just idiots.
By:
By:
They have taken Netherlands out of the last place market.
By:
Settled as a loser.
Market T&Cs state all bets atand run or not, so had to be settled one way or another. Not in the final, so they don't meet meet the finish last in the final condition, I suppose. |
By:
the 5/2+ on Croatia for the televote is too big I feel. It's an overestimation of the probability anyway, I'd have it more like 45/45 with Isr, 10 bar. But will surely shift a bit when all the people who use sm stats ir get involved, which will most likely look pretty toxic for Isr and buoyant for the Croats.

Bambie Thug has called on the organisers of Eurovision to address commentary on their performance by the Israeli broadcaster, Kan.
In an interview with RTÉ News, Bambie has contended that the commentary on Israeli television was in breach of the contest rules. As a result, they have called on Israel to be disqualified from the competition. Bambie said about the comments: “I hope the EBU will address [the comments] correctly”. The commentary in question aired on Tuesday night on Kan, during the First Semi-Final. Israel’s commentator said that the song would be the “most scary” of the night: ![]() |

Scary, grunge, pop heavy metal is good for the show, It's the spice on the mostly bland menu. otherwise the show would be like eating unseasoned egg whites for 3 hours
![]() Im not sure who, but a few analy retentive media pundits have been aghast and outraged at her satan/devil imagery and calling for her to be banned for it. |

Every year it never ceases to amaze how bl00dy excessively seriously some people take EV. It's disposable, throwaway, supposedly entertaining tv, giving most casual viewers a bit of a laugh at some different once per annum. Nothing more. And yes something to bet on. But agonising over the minutiae of the rules, who should be able to take part, who looked at what person this way, who said this who said that. This year it has certainly undone itself and the kindergarten has taken over.

By:
With of course a hugely sinister overtone.
By:
Does it matter with how many votes, how big margin, you win in a country or do you get 12 pts for that country regardless which is then converted to another number to get the total televote score?
By:
12 points for winning country pv, 12 points for winning country jury. Then added up, margin or vote totals not considered.
Of course you get the brilliant format that jury reveals first country by country, and then pv points awarded in one lump, reverse order of jury totals. Brilliant for potential in running carnage. |

Thanks.
