Musicals week this week... consider us, well in!

(That’s a clue by the way)

Hint from Chris, so sounds like it's Oliver.  Didn't Kellie and Kev do a corker of an Oliver routine?

Three years running he's been elbowed out with the samba. Understandably aggrieved, but that's the game they signed up to. Not helping his chances for next year if he remains signed!

I didn't see it but surely it should make him determined to improve on the dance and beat the curse/stat.

Although tbf he didn't stand much chance with Saffron.

Trouble is, most of her other uptempo/Latin dances have been pretty poor but way overmarked to keep her in the contest.  Finally she was scored realistically.

top one seems strange for a Samba, from the way it is performed in the film it seems it would be more apt for a Street performance.

Chris's seems too fast for a FT but ideal persona for him to play.

Very traditional but also very predictable for Emma and Anton.  Seems to be along similar lines to her Theatre Jazz and that was more style over substance so could go either way, a massive triumph or fall flat.  Depends on the narrative of the whole show.

Strange choice of dance for Karim after repeatedly getting stick for being fast and frenetic and packing too much in and surely they are going to have to do that all over again for this track which has been done to death on the show.  Once again could be a massive triumph (or not).  "That's when fast, frenetic and action-packed really works for you" and a 10 from Craig maybe.

Kelvin's a bit too Disney for me.  Wonder if he will be wearing a great big beast head.  Assume a VW-based AmSm.

It wasn't great obviously but they were hung out to dry, no theme, zero production, slowed down version of the song. It's not just that it was the samba which is so difficult to cope with for females, but the stage in the comp and as I say nothing to hide behind. The two females left would have been worse given that hand, but that's the game, it was Saffron's turn in the script to bow out. Chris is getting all the protection in the world, and I suppose AJ hasn't enjoyed that kind of production support when it matters, he probably thought it was his best chance to get to the final.

Indeed sq! Karim really needed someone to reign him in occasionally, but she's being indulgent as well. It's coming across very stubborn. Contrast to someone like Jay who gave the impression he was never able to accept how good he was.

Karim & Amy

Jive

amazing number, going to be fantastic
dancing steps on his own
very good natural jive action
picking up his knees, flicks and kicks really good, tummy tucked under and knees up high, and lovely arch when he points his feet

(no show of the routine with Amy, just Karim doing the basics and does look amazing)

Alex and Neil
Samba

hope it's not a bad omen
this doesn't look traditional
some samba moves in there
lovely action so far
like to see a bit more rhythm in the body

Emma and Anton
Charleston

really impressed
right feel
right face
lovely flapper feel to it

(Emma looking better than Anton)

Kelvin & Oti
AmSm(VW)

prev VW was quite slow
think this is a very fast VW and going to show Shirley what they can do
lovely frame
very strong
lovely T shape
head a bit left

Chris & Karen
FT

not much FT in this
so difficult to critique
loves Chris and lots of synchonisation and he's loving it which is why everyone is voting for him

Gold Star for Kelvin this week

cos he loves his frame

sounds like she wanted to dance to this track all along, wanted it for movie week but Neil said wait until musicals week so they apparently had some say in this.

Loads of extra dancers

Great songs this week for Emma and Chris.  Very catchy singalong stuff which is what most will want to hear.

The other three I've never heard of them and I can't be the only one so surely not an ideal scenario to dance to a tune that many won't have heard of, have no idea where the song goes, can't sing along or tap their feet like we all do.

IMO choose a song that everyone knows and that can only be a good thing so a plus for Emma and Chris with two classics.

Alex actually lasted one week longer than she should have done.  She wasn't as good as Saffron or Dev but to be fair at the same time she's in a different league to the awful Chris so all in all she gained one extra week.

A good dancer but 7/10 all round is not good enough to win Strictly when there a couple of 9's still in in plus the 7 and a half that's Emma.

Nice girl though, lovely smile so well done to her.

A good thing for the Chris layers is in normal circumstances the last 4 would have been a public vote only so his poor judges marks wouldn't go against him as they don't count.

However with one dancer dropping out the final is now only three so next Saturday the judges scores do count.  He must surely be bottom of the leaderboard (touch wood!) so who can he beat in the dance off when the judges can clearly see the other three are far superior to him.

They should just let the judges alone decide who goes out every week then he'd have been gone about 8 or 9 weeks ago rather than him staying in and other decent dancers getting knocked out.  He must be embarrassed surely to keep going through when he knows each week far better dancers are going home.  He's got some neck I'll give him that.

ALSO:  I should add to be totally HONEST as usual.  I've had £233 worth of losing bets on the HS as there were a few small arbs and another £25 on HS for Saffron to be TF at 10/1.

Although another arb I had was £25 on Kelvin at 10/1 to win.

Summing up as long as Chris doesn't win I win just over £1500.  If Karim wins then an extra £250.  Last year was about £2500 so I must be slacking!

So there it is for you all in black and white.  I shouldn't have to do this but every year even though I'm HONEST to the hilt even if it goes against one of my favourites there are some doubters.

I also have been PMing (is that how you write it?) two major contributors to the forum and have been for many years and RIGHT FROM THE VERY START have told them exactly what bets I've had  so hopefully ONE OF THEM WILL KINDLY COME FORWARD AND CONFIRM THIS PLEASE .............. just to shut the rest of the forum up once and for all.
