In a live show tonight, TVR‘s expert jury cut the 72 acts of Romania‘s Selectia Nationala 2017 to 15. The acts were judged based on their live auditions at the end of January. The 15 semi-finalists will now face off on 26 February, when ten songs will advance to the national final on 5 March. I guess lots of people are looking forward to SVT releasing the song snippets of the participants for Saturdays semi 4 of MelFest tomorrow (Wednesday) to hear what Loreen will be singing to find out if she will be slaying all the Melfest competitors or not. Unibet had Melfest winner odds earlier today of 2.0 for Nano and 3.75 for Loreen and as of now Unibet has Nano 1.85 and Loreen 4.0. Are we heading for a Melfest Nanoslide or will Loreen win once again. Perhaps the odds will all change from tomorrow onwards.

RUSSIA – Phillip Kirkorov, one of the most influential figures in the post Soviet Union and the person that made Eurovision famous in the region, urges Russia to withdraw from the contest. Kirkorov says: “I’m not interested in this competition. I am deeply disappointed by its political involvement and bias. I do not dispute the victory of Ukrainian singer Jamala: European citizens voted for her as they did for Sergey Lazarev. But Sergey won the viewers vote. However, while people sent SMS for him, the professional juries of the same countries gave him zero points. So there is an obvious bias against Russia.I have absolutely no interest to deal with an organisation (EBU) that ignores my country. And I also advise the audience to reduce their interest in this competition until they will put things in order. If it was my decision,I would not send anyone this year!†The reaction of Russia’s super star comes as a surprise since he is the person that defended the participation of the country in the contest even in the more difficult periods, like in 2014 with the Tolmachevy sisters. Kirkorov also hints that Sergey Lazarev will be back in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest to win this time the contest and bring the trophy to Russia, implying also that there could be one more collaboration with the Greek Dream Team (Dimtris Kontopoulos, Fokas Evangelinos and Ilias Kokotos). |
