The arrogance here is astonishing.  FWIW, it might be a "specials" market but that doesn't make it any different from anything else.  Anyway, my record is on here.  I don't wish to enter into aimless squabbling.

nothing like wanting to be FOTY

SPOTY is generally a massive end of year sporting showpiece which mainly attracts sporting types who watch. brownlee breaks the mould with what he did and he will attract far more casuals and non-sporting types into watching and voting for him. blinded by a tartan wearing haggis won't wash down south mate

And crucially lots of people who have voted Murray in the past.

yeah, no doubt he'll get 400,000 but if sinfield can get 270,000 from a fairly low profile point of view regarding his target audience. brownlee's campaign will see him doubling or tripling sindfields tally imo. sinfield hit home with rugby loving parts of the UK. brownlee's appeal will be nationwide. skelton is not out of it, as he will get every horse lover in the land and will dominate rural voting area's. you can blow your andy foghorn loud as u like, i'll use a bit of common sense. just coz scots are very passionate, it does not mean the rest of the UK is not..they just need more motivating, which AB and NK provide in vast quantities

Worth searching for "Sports Personality" on twitter as well - dominated by Murray.

murray got 360,000 and 400,000 in previous winning years. no way he tops that this year, as its an olympic and very competitive year but only a campaign can beat him..that's a certainty surely. i fully expect him to get around 300,000 to 350,000. all the value remains with AB and NS

yeah twitter is noisy in scotland
By:
nigelpm1
When: 05 Nov 16 18:13
he'll get well over 500k this year.
By:

When: 05 Nov 16 18:14
,if the cycling community has a whole get behind brownlee, as well as most of yorkshire. don't be surprised if AB gets over 750,000 votes
By:
armagnac
When: 05 Nov 16 18:15
not a chance, he only got 400,000 for winning wimbldon in a p1ss weak year
By:

you can have quite a good guess at both murray and AB's votes, skelton is the dark horse, his number is impossible too guess

let's wait and see.  Judging by the twitter reaction I wouldn't be surprised with 70% of the vote share and c.750k.  World #1 is huge.  Every newspaper has a story on it already and most note he's already won SPOTY.

one thing i will say is, lots of women cried when AB helped his brother...i doubt the same can be said about murray's sporting achievements. it does come down too britains greatest sports person v the most emotional moment the sporting world has ever seen.

straw clutching.  Would take something incredibly huge campaign wise for Brownlee to get anywhere near Murray let alone beat him.
By:
armagnac
When: 05 Nov 16 18:34
yeah well, he has swimming, cycling and running in his armoury as well as yorkshire just for starters. i think he has more than enough

If you had any conviction in what you were saying I'd expect to see you hammer that 5.x avaialble on Brownlee until it disappeared
By:
armagnac
When: 05 Nov 16 18:35
why would i do that when i get triple those prices, im all in as it stands
By:

When: 05 Nov 16 18:36
no comment about yorkshire's population being the same as scotland then ?
By:
nigelpm1
When: 05 Nov 16 18:37
it's not that simple is it?   Plenty in Scotland will vote for Brownlee and vice versa those in Yorkshire.
By:
nigelpm1
When: 05 Nov 16 18:37
Because 5.x is huge value still if you believe in what you are saying.
By:
nigelpm1
When: 05 Nov 16 18:41
Though if you genuinely are all in you can't be more! albeit only £60 was traded on Brownlee above 500 so can't believe you can be all in!

my bets are of no concern too you, worry about your own book is my advice. you scots sure do love andy lol
By:

shame is best ever year won't be good enough too beat a true hero and someone with an actual personality. murray has to be the most boring famous person ever !!
By:
nigelpm1
When: 05 Nov 16 18:50
I think it's quite telling that you say one thing on here but don't back it up - that indicates to me you don't really believe what you are saying.
By:

FWIW, I've taken £3k on Murray at varying levels the past two days from 1.9x to 1.6x
By:

When: 05 Nov 16 19:01
To be fair if Murray hadn't had such as stellar end to 2016 you'd have probably have made a fortune - if you backed in the 500's - my advise would be to lay the hell out if it now or back Murray - I suspect you are doing though.

only thing to stop andy is him turning up at england v scotland match
and pishing off the brexiteers !
By:

When: 05 Nov 16 21:36
there's some really weak minded individuals who play this market, i suggest they try sitting through a series of big brother..then they might grow a set of balls. murray wins f all, no-one in england wants too see the boring arrogant jock win a 3rd time in 4 years. no matter what he's done this year
By:
donny osmond
When: 05 Nov 16 21:54
the weak minded seem to win every year

of course one year they will lose but hey ho
By:
armagnac
When: 05 Nov 16 22:26
of course they will, trying too play it safe following favs. its being able too identify weak favs that's the key too winning consistently. this award was never designed for one person to win it 3 times in 4 years. in a perfect world the public would get a different winner every year. i cannot see for one minute all of his voters last year, re-voting or wanting him too win again. whether that's 1%, 5%, 20% of them or whatever. he'll have his decent core vote, but im willing too say he won't beat last years tally of 361,000

Like I said earlier if you really believed that Armagnac - there wouldn't be £72 at 6.2 on Brownlee - stick your money where your mouth is.

The other point to note is plenty will be picking up their papers tomorrow morning and not know the Murray news - expect another move down to 1.4x by tomorrow eve.

the first reality tv show i remember was opportunity knocks

folks voted by post, you expected a different winner but last weeks winner
got to perform last

popular champions could win for several weeks by having best spot
and an established vote

murray has both of those already !

not sure why trott is so short, kenny should be shorter than her as he won more medals etc, she's only that short because of the chick factor. lay for me

Murray wins another tournament - getting boring this innit.

Had a few quid on AB today, just in case other Murray backers get there first.
I've never properly been involved in this market before but alternatives needed to be found since X-Factor voting is far less organic than previous years.
Only upset for me would be Trott but against the two very worthwhile favourites she really doesn't have a realistic chance.
