Ahead of this weekend’s reveal of who will be in the semi-finals of this year’s Britain’s Got Talent, we caught up with astounding magician and illusionist Darcy Oake to quiz him about what he has lined up for us with his next performance during the show’s semi-finals.

He told us, “My next performance is going to be very different from the first one. The first one was very much centred around sleight of hand and manipulation…

“Whereas the next round is more about the grand illusion.”

We then asked Darcy if he was going to include the judges in any way in his next performance, to which he replied, “No I’m not planning on asking for their participation because I just want them to sit there and enjoy it, and hopefully the audience will too.

“The thing is I don’t want to rely on or use the judges as a crutch you know?”

We asked Darcy if he’d been at all surprised – because we certainly were – that none of the judges used their Golden Buzzer for him after his first audition, particularly given that David and Simon both said Darcy was one of the best magician and illusionists they’d ever seen on the show.

Modest Darcy replied, “No not at all, that wasn’t my objective so I wasn’t at all disappointed when it didn’t happen. Honestly it hadn’t even occurred to me that they might.

“All I really wanted was to do a show that I was proud of, and even if I’d been buzzed off at the end of it, as long I know I did my best, and it was something that I was artistically and technically satisfied with, then I would have been happy with it.

“But for sure at the end of that performance, I was happy with how the performance went, but yeah, the fact there was no Golden Buzzer wasn’t even in my mindset, and still isn’t.”

We asked Darcy if any of the judges had come to him after the show and asked him to explain how he did any of the amazing tricks we saw, but he says they didn’t, not even David who was truly taken aback by Darcy’s performance.

He said, “No they didn’t, but even if they had, I wouldn’t have revealed anything. It’s the first rule of magic that you never give away your secrets.”

Hope that line-up isn't correct.....don't fancy Lauren & Terrell's chances of progressing with Collabro and Darcy in the same heat.

Who’s on Britain’s Got Talent tonight?
Darcy Oake
Darcy is a professional magician from Canada and began his magic career at the age of 10. He stunned both the audience and the judges by performing the seemingly impossible. Winning over the judges with his incredible illusions, Darcy received four yeses and a standing ovation from Alesha, Amanda and David.

Collabro
Despite Collabro having only been together for one month they blew all of the judges away with their performance of Bring Him Home. Alesha described it as one of the strongest auditions she had seen and Simon was left shocked by their talent saying ‘I thought it was going to be awful’. They went through with four big yeses.

CountryVive
CountryVive are made up of 18 members who have been performing together for 5 years. Their
audition got the judges up on their feet dancing and was rewarded by four yeses and a standing ovation. They are looking to make country dance contemporary and current. David described them as “the answer to our prayers” and Amanda was amazed no one pushed the golden buzzer.

Lauren and Terrell
Lauren and Terrell have been best friends since meeting on the stage. They blew the judges away with their slick, timely dance routine. Their friendship and strong connection could be seen through their performance. All of the judges congratulated them on their togetherness and Simon’s only criticism was that he wanted more personality from Terrell. Alesha described them as “unbelievable” and David thought they “filled the stage much more than big groups”.
Who do you think will triumph with the public? Which will you be voting for? Add your comments below!

Christian Spridon
Christian lives in London and has been working as a waiter for the past five years. He caused controversy between the judges after he performed Tom Jones Sex Bomb. Simon, Amanda and Alesha promptly pushed their own buzzers and after attempting to protect his, David’s buzzer was also pushed leaving Christian with a blackout. This led to David using his Golden Buzzer taking Christian straight through to the semi-finals and leaving the judges speechless with Simon declaring ‘you made a mockery of that golden buzzer.

Jon Clegg
Jon Clegg has his father to thank for his performing background as he previously appeared on the ITV show ‘New Faces’. Jon made all the judges roar with laughter throughout his performance. As well as appealing to Simon’s love of cartoons by impersonating Marge Simpson, Jon successfully mimicked Alan Carr, Louis Walsh and bravely, Simon Cowell. Simon loved it, particularly Marge Simpson and Amanda thought it was “spot on”. Jon was delighted that he’d impressed the judges,

Henrietta Adewole
Music student Henrietta impressed the judges with her performance of Let Her Go by Passenger. Each of the judges saw something they liked in Henrietta. Amanda acknowledged her retro tone and Alesha enjoyed the jazzy aspect to her performance.

Micky Dumoulin
Micky is a check-out worker from Essex who lives with his mum in their mobile home and he is from a musical family. Micky wowed the judges with his performance of Bring Him Home and his genuine, likable character shone through. Simon told him that he felt the same charisma from Micky as the first time he saw Olly Murs. The judge’s responses moved Micky to tears and he was over the moon by the crowd’s reaction.

Patsy May
Patsy entertained the judges by performing Dream a Little Dream followed by inviting Ant & Dec onto the stage to be serenaded. Her comic anecdotes were well received by the judges and Simon even envisaged Patsy sitting in Amanda’s chair next year. David thought “it was very funny” and Amanda said she wanted to “see the dark side” of Patsy.

Darcy has more going for him than previous 'magicians' imo. He is already an accomplished/natural performer and obviously looks the part. Looks long odds-on was 'invited' to apply. And would be a 'new' type of winner. I didn't think his first act was anything special, but none of them are.
