Betfair market was up on December 22nd last year

Betfair Helpdesk ‏@BetfairHelpdesk 21m

We only load the market once the EBU have confirmed the participating countries (the Wikipedia page is not a confirmed list).

This was in late December last year however this time around it appears they will be announced in early January.

The market will be loaded once this has occurred.

My strategy this year is not to bother listening to any of them

That`s my strategy every year. I know well that, (forgive the pun,) I`m not in tune with ESC voters. Far too easy to allow personal musical taste to lead to a terrible book.

I wonder if we will get another odds on favourite in the running week of the final this year like we did last year with Denmark when they became odds on after the semi-finals.

There's a short priced fav most years.
As for not listening to any of them Shocked
That's part of the fun.
I already can't get Tick Tock out of my head

The only big specials event I fail to get a proper handle on. Lena must have been an aberration!

I've done well apart from last year, where I took too much of a position on Ukraine and was too slow removing my lays on Denmark

Fortunately, I must be well ahead on the event overall. Had Lena, and that soppy duo mainly because you and others were tipping it up confidently. However, apart from Lena all my own picks have sucked, after spending plenty of time studying. eg I liked Rockerfella Street I think it was called and it came close to last! At least the French opera thing flopped.

Good comment above about Tick Tock.  Straight into my head on NYE and now I know I'm hooked between now and May and no doubt will do my usual trick of making a tiny amount on the eventual winner (one day one of my four figure greens WILL come in) but at least scrape around the side bets and qualifying bets to make me come back for more next year.

Vital I keep some sort of three figure profit (ideally four figure!) coming in overall so I can justify to the missus why the car CD player only pays Eurovision for 8 months of year!  Would be hard for her to stomach this music AND her husband making a loss!

One thing I want to do is be more aggressive laying the 20s and 30s (did fairly well last year and it's a lot easier picking losers than the one single winner!) before they drift to prices that my small-medium pocket struggles to cope with.

As for UK's entry and this is purely a guess on my part, it wouldn't surprise me if it came from the posse of reformed/reunion groups from around 1999-2002 that have been back on the scene in the last year i.e. Five, Atomic Kitten, 911 etc.

Jeeez.  Are there ANY good Maltese entries.  Just randomly got them off Youtube whilst here at work.  5 songs far and all have been bad.  Anyone addicted enough to already know if there's some good ones bubbling under??

Unlike Ukraine which gives us top totty year in year out, Maltese women are all 5/10s.

That said, in fairness, they're they type of 5/10's that go up to 7/10's after 4 pints.  CrazyLove

As for Tick Tock, it's very catchy but the type of straightforward popsong that tends to do badly these days. No pipes, violins, folk or ethnic feel to it. Or the quirkiness of something like Satellite.
It's very much like Rockerfella Street that cider mentions and failed so badly.

They'll need plenty of students in the baltic and ex soviet states voting in order for it to gain a decent finish Wink

Russia top 5 seems to happen every year due to so many Russians living in all the neighbouring countries. They'll be top 5 even in Putin & **** Riot do a duet.....

honestcl,

imo any of those Big Reunion types would be awful and more of the same old tosh.  Also I believe Michelle Heaton and Kerry Katona are having babies in March so that would be likely to rule out Liberty X and Atomic Kitten?
