Backing Belars at the big odds was an account closer but 100/1 was too big to resist this is a very weak contet so far  took the chance. So long as the 3 accounts I did it on se me through Cheltenham no harm done.

I was too late for the 3 figure prices, but was only allowed £11.50 on in total between 365, 188 and spoilsports at prices between 40/1 and 66/1. Either the High Street is not taking any chances this year or my card is well and truly marked.

True Dicky if your card wasnt marked before it is now, that should be consided before betting really. youve had a £600 to £12 when you could have held and got a £660 to £20 this morning so 3 accounts jeopardised for £8. The 3 accouts I used were all on the verge of restrictions I think but I need them for Cheltenham.

JOT I’m trying to understand that: surely that’s only true if it’s a losing bet and he had to try to keep the potential profit the same, not the stake. If he kept the stake at £12 and waited till this morning and wins it would be £396. So if he wins he jeapodised the accounts for about £200, not £8.

Yes, I’m bored.

lol Henry too much time methinks, I always try to put a value on a bet so how uch would it cost me now to win that amount so for dicky to win his £600 an extra £8. It was similar with Adele when I wanted £50 @ 16/1 and ended having £200 @4/1 so the cost had she lost was £150 as it turns out she won. But the wife still bangs on about itSad

lol I'm sure that makes sense JOT, its a lot to think about though when you just want a HS bet for pretty much first time of the year.  My betting profile to date has been like that 'Jeremy from IT' bloke from the Maltese song :'an extra careful guy, risk assessment is his investment' Laugh  was looking to put some effort into this and up stakes.

Lets hope betfair picks up, but the loonies seem to have taken control with their bizarre strategy of advertising exchange 'cash out' features, and at the same time hiding the exchange away for new users in favour of their worst value fixed odds site.

Ukraine seem the value to me. Should be a guaranteed trade I'd have thought and I have a 4k green.  Decent song and a good if slightly bland singer. I read weeks ago that they were going to completely revise the song so can only get better; upbeat finish, drop or reduce the backing singers, add a chorus and speed it up a bit. 25s seems value in a weak field.  Kept meaning to arb sweden for a free 700 green but never got round to it and gone now.

The UK really seem to have missed the point of Eurovision, first reducing it to joke acts, then reality rejects, then comeback acts, and now old has-beens.

The rest of Europe must look on in disbelief... So much song-writing talent here in the UK and we can't come up with anything better?

They stole the 'holding out for a zero' line from the Mirror sub-editor - headline, p3 of the paper today. They broke the story it was Bonnie Tyler.

Thing is, dizzy, the BBC doesn't want the UK to succeed at the ESC - probably partly because it costs a hell of a lot to host. They help perpetuate the attitude - backed up by our media - that the Contest is beneath us, & the myth that the UK has no chance of winning because the rest of Europe hates us, & again the media happily bangs this drum, bleating about the unfairness of it after we fail miserably, after sending yet another sub-standard effort.

Nothing will change until Norton is ousted, the way in which we choose our act is updated, and they change the negative ESC messages they brainwash the public with. The BBC are really missing a trick. Instead of wasting millions buying a white elephant franchise like the 'The Voice' that money would be far wiser spent on high production value ESC semi-finals - following the Melodifestivalen template over in Sweden - making them compelling, must-see heats leading up to a big glitzy final in London.

Do we have the undiscovered songwriting talent & vocalists out there wishing to enter? I'm sure we do. They're probably putting their stuff on MySpace. They're the sort of individuals who wouldn't want to go down the XF route because they have integrity as musicians & don't want to be Cowell puppets.

There is actually a fantastic window of opportunity there in this age of manufactured reality tv, to offer a series of ESC qualification shows that showcase genuine music talent in this country. Will it ever happen? Sadly not given the Beeb's backward thinking regarding ESC.

Its pathetic when compared to countries like Moldova who put on a better selection process and get some half-decent tunes and singers to choose from.

I have recently listened to a selection of songs from this year's eurovision.
So are we all agreed then that Denmark has won this?

I could see Denmark going the same way as their entry from last year. The singer looks like a psycho too
By:

Maybe a psycho, but a stunning psycho. The song for me really has a Rybak element to it, and i simply knew it would be the current favourite. However that was also because it had a decent amount of youtube hits. If it was the entry of one of the ally-rich nations, it would be a lot shorter by now.
By:

It doesn't have Rybak Wink

It looks a very open year to me and I wouldn't touch Denmark at the price.

This is usual scenario of the ESC market latching on to an early tune & backing it into a very short price. It's incredibly old-fashioned as a song & would not have a life outside the Contest which is a neg in itself.

Just noticed Laddieshave belatedly put a market up. But in a break with tradition theyve gone 1/4 odds 123 when both Hills and Corals are 1/4 1234.It would be understanable if they were standout top price on a few,but they are top price 1 and joint top 3.Stan James 1/4 1234 are top 11 and joint top 11. I know we all struggle to get on with Stan but that doesnt alter the fact its poor from Ladbrokes.

Disgraceful from Ladcrookes - noticed their revised place terms earlier today JOT. They were good last year too. Clearly want to duck ESC this year. b365 also swiftly moved to change their place terms to a 5th the odds. They really are all skinflints these days on tv betting.

It's crazy given the fact it's a 39 horse race.  It's hard enough to land one or two in the top four (although last year I guess was the excpetion to that rule with the betting market getting it spot on) but to restrict e/w to Top Three when the Grand National (similar sized field) can be as high as 6th place in some places.

Its surprising how much difference 1/5th 1234 makes versus 1/4 but 1/4 123 is scandalous. Betfred are win only but the reduced overound on the win market reflects this Cyril Stein will be spinning in his grave tonight shame on them.

I think Ladbrokes amongst others possibly took a hit with Azerbaijan 4th @ 50/1.
No excuse to go 1/4 the odds 123 in a 39 runner race tho.
