Yay!
Seeing as it's probably their 2nd biggest specials market now and the only that they can get a head start on the HS firms, I'm surprised it took so long ![]() |

when does the process get underway? I.e country's picking their acts?
By:
Already underway, Clay. We know 4 countries' songs & Albania deciding tonight, Ukraine tomorrow. Then there are countless national finals throughout Jan, Feb & early March.
By:
I liked the Albanian ballad that is one of the favs for tonight. Not as good as last years, but a possible top 10 again
By:
We could do with a top 10 market too

Albania have chosen another song to torture you again with this year Bex

By:
Pure marmite according to youtube likes/dislikes. Personally I liked it though more for the 60s psychodelic music than the song itself and it would be great listening to it stoned in a Moroccan brothel...not sure what Norman Wisdom or CB Fry would make of it though.
By:
This is one of the shows where being marmite is often a positive
By:
Last new Golden Rule of the year it is then. Still prefer 99% v 1% like Loreen mind

Actually George Loreen had one of the lowest like/dislike ratios on first and second rehearsal figures.
(The final, even though it was the same production as the rehearsals, might have scored better - I haven't looked - from people looking at it after the show ie to see what the winner's song is like.) |
By:
Henry I exaggerated for effect and yes she was marmite to a lot of ESC purists but even if 50v50 the millions of casuals on the night will have been closer to 80v20 if the result was anything to go by. The viewers clearly saw/felt what I saw/felt when I first watched it.
By:
I don't know what difference there is between fans who watch YT before the event and casuals.
I think with Loreen, although marmite, it was the numbers involved. On 17 May she had 57% like/dislike and Estonia (just to compare) had 80%. But Sweden’s 57% was 1400 people and Estonia’s 80% was only 400. |
By:
I don't know what difference there is between fans who watch YT before the event and casuals.
About 200million at a conservative estimate. Its the same difference between the hardcore viewers of specials who then get swamped by the casuals who turn up on the night and vote on what they see/feel. Loreen was the whole visceral package despite what purists and youtubers said about not appealing to the masses. |
By:
What about the difference in voting? I was thinking of that more than numbers. Loreen was a fan favourite so last year the fans and casuals voted for the same person.
By:
The dreadful failure of many fans favourites show they are a totally insignificant 'voting block'
By:
ESC fanatics are worse than DS when it comes to reflecting the zeitgeist. Clearly the fans and casuals didn't vote (proportionally) for the same person.
By:
ESC fanatics are probably even more retarded than DS posters if that is possible
By:
Strange days at ESC. Not only have we lost a few of the big players (bosnia and turkey) but now there won't even be a draw for the running order. Will be left to the host country to decide...how I don't know...also first rehearsals closed to the press.
By:
Are Greece a runner this year? Or being pulled?
