As far as gender goes studies show that military piolots are significantly more likely to have girls than boys. Up to 67% in one study. However, it is not know why and it is not certain if William will qualify or not.
Studies also show that women who suffer from severe morning sickness are 55% likely to have a girl. Sex isn't the random 50/50 thing that the bookies imagine it is. So betting on a girl at evens is a good bet. And what makes it a better bet is that even if all the studies are rubbish you can rest in the knowledge that you haven't lost value. Worst case is you get a fair bet. |

High status couples are slightly more likely to have boys than girls; the evolutionary rationale for this is that they get more grandchildren (legitimate or otherwise) that way. However as noted above there are several other factors pulling in different directions in this case. If only the Queen Mum were still alive the bookies would already have their card marked.
