Louis won't be considered an unfair advantage as he is a sportsman. DvO did all the stage school stuff and dances for a living.

why lay DVO now? If she starts better than the rest due to her experience the casuals in the market will force the price down, lay then is my planCrazy

Some of the pairings from someone on DS who went to the launch.  I guess she couldn't remember the others?

Dani - Vincent
Jerry - Brendan
Kimberley - Pasha

Sid - Ola
Richard - Kristina
Nicky - Karen

Looks like I’m the only person here who likes DVO. I haven’t seen much TV in the last 20 years (other than BB, XF etc) which puts me at a disadvantage but I remember seeing a bit of DVO as a weather girl and I’ve recently watched a lot of her on YouTube. She seems great.

Can anybody give an example of over-confidence or of being irritating? Her Kent accent seems to have toned down over the years.

Louis surely p1sses on these high maintenance females. Or at least makes the final as fav and then gets massively deramped for doing a backflip

DVO is one of Basildon's finest exports, from the highly cerebral county of Essex Wink.

I think her chance in this hinges on whether TGBP consider she has an unfair advantage with her performing background. It depends how they play it,but it's going to be very difficult to sell her as starting from the same level as everyone else.

Personality wise, perhaps she's the type of girl who appeals more to males than females? I tend to agree with H that she appears to be a lovely girl, but am hugely concerned the female point of view may be at odds with my opinion.

a few tweets posted on there with some early thoughts, generally fairly predictable/obvious.

Although Vincent apparently has a lot of work to do with Dani from first appearances.

Jerry looks like she will be fun.

Denise the one to beat.

Victoria looks good, but if I had to put money down it would be on Lisa.

Louis very good, my favourite.

Nicky looks nimble.

Colin and Michael look likely to get lost in the mix.

all the above from memory so search for them if you want to check it out more thoroughly.

Someone else has now a full list of pairings, with some different to those posted earlier so hard to know exactly what is correct.

Looking at this year's contestants, doesn't look as if anyone is tied up with another job (like previous people have been filming Waterloo Road, Hollyoaks, EE, etc.) so everyone probably devoting all their time to this.

The Olympians have probably been busy recently and had less training time than some of the others (but obviously used to tough training schedules).

Read somewhere that Lisa had been training for weeks and is really good for a big lass, can do the splits, etc.

Dani, Fern (twice) and Richard have been on BBC dance shows before.

Louis no doubt used to tough coaches, so shouldn't crack under the pressure Flavia puts her partners under.

"Just look her up on youtube Henners"

I did. That's why I thought she was great. Bubbly and fun on all those tedious talk-show interviews. She's a wife and mother now which should help with the female voter problem.

I like Louis a lot too. I suppose ideally he should have a bit more personality and DVO a bit less.

He'll end up having her. In the biblical sense.

It's the best way to subdue women.

Radio DJ, Chris Evans, has ruffled the BBC’s feathers yet again yesterday by calling for Denise Van Outen to be disqualified from this year’s Strictly Come Dancing!

According to the Sun newspaper, the Radio 2 star has claimed he thinks it is unfair the Essex gal should be able to compete due to her West End experience.

During his breakfast show, he slated the producers of the show, claiming Denise, who is married to reality theatre contestant, Lee Mead, will have an unfair advantage over the other competitors due to her professional training and previous dance catalogue.

Speaking of Denise, who is the voice over for the hugely popular ITV2 reality show, The Only Way Is Essex, on his show, the ginger whinger said: “Should Denise Van Outen be allowed to appear on Strictly as she’s appeared in a musical actually dancing?”

However, Denise, who has previously starred in the hit West End production of Chicago, has actually graded her own dancing skills at “four out of ten”, as well as commenting: “I can do the basics — thanks to theatre school — but I haven’t danced properly for 15 years.

“I’m most nervous about the fact people will think I can dance already because of my stage career.”

Bike stuff = old news anyway.

zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Various newspapers today report that there’s unrest backstage at the Strictly Come Dancing camp, particularly for contestants Victoria Pendleton and Jerry Hall, who the Daily Star reckons have both had behind-the-scenes “meltdowns” this week.

However, while there may be chaos all around him, that hasn’t stopped competitor Richard Arnold from posting a bunch of Twitpics of his backstage larking around. More on that in a moment…

But first, it seems that Victoria was first angered by the fact that Team GB bosses have sold the bike that she won her gold medal in this year’s Olympics on.

The Sun reports that Victoria had intended to keep the carbon-fibre cycle, but when she went to pick it up, she was “horrified” to discover that it had been sold.

She said, “I’d said I was going to buy the bike but they’ve bloody sold it and without telling me…

“I don’t know who sold it or who they sold it to but it’s gone and now I can’t have it.

“Luckily I got my pump and my bottle cages from it but that is all I’ve got — oh, and a couple of pedals and a spare inner tube.

“I’d said I was willing to buy the bike — they sell them at the end of the season because obviously you get a new one each year. But no, it’s already gone.”

And it seems that this week, Victoria “got herself into a state” after convincing herself she would be voted off first.

As to Jerry Hall’s alleged “meltdown” that apparently came when she went “loopy” at staff during a rehearsal as she accused them of taking her dress, shoes and cigarettes.

However, she was left red-faced after a show runner found the items exactly where she’d left them!

A show insider said, “We are days from the launch and the dramas have started.”

And last night, a show spokesman admitted the celebs were “nervous” adding, “Jerry Hall is one of the most charming and glamorous contestants we have had and all the cast are in love with her.”

Back to Richard Arnold and his Twitpics – one of which features Jerry – he’s obviously throwing himself into all things Strictly, and having fun with his co-competitors to boot.

Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood has tipped Westlife singer Nicky Byrne for an early exit!

Speaking at last night’s launch show, Craig took a swipe at Nicky and his bandmates for their bland dance routines.

“He may bring a little bit of beauty and charm but can he move those legs? Westlife were only famous for sitting on stools,” he quipped.

But Craig did praise the “fantastic” line up, revealing his favourite was Olympian Louis Smith, adding: “Gymnasts have fantastic rhythm.”

However it was Kimberley Walsh that Craig was tipping to win.

He said about the popstar turned West End performer earlier this week: “Kimberley Walsh at the top, I think she’ll win.

“Only because she’s danced before, and she’s foxy, shes hot, she’ll do very well.”

Despite Craig’s comments about Nicky, the Westlife singer is currently a favourite with our readers.

At the time of writing, he’s battling it out with Kimberley to top our first popularity poll of the series, so we doubt he’ll be the first out!
