14. Russia As soon as you see them, and see the two grannies putting the cookies into the oven, you have an immediate smile on your face (or at least I do). They are totally adorable, enjoying to the max their time on the stage, dancing around the stage. In the background you can see an Earth-ball in lots of colors. When the cookies are out of the over, the small granny runs to get the plate, which looks really sweet, as do their bow and hugs at the end. I’m pretty sure that the juries will also like this. Luke: 14. Russia Completely bonkers, but they’ve got some of the audience on their feet and everyone in the press centre entranced. This really couldn’t be any more in the final if it tried, and might come dangerously close on the final night. |

lol@ reports that the Russian vocal is ropey. It's never been anything else

Grannies price is only going to go south with reviews like this. if anyone seriously believes the juries will place it highly it will plunge

RUSSIA
Its the Russian grannies on now. Vocally this is really poor. The stove is belching smoke. There is no doubt the camera shots alone will pick up loads of votes as it makes it very awwwww cute. Especially the wee one with no teeth. Its what it is cute and lovely but vocally as a song its not good, despite that is definetly going to qualify. |

15. Hungary A very nice start with a dark background which gets lighter right at the first chorus, which starts with a fire effect. Lead singer’s vocals are good throughout the song. There are still a couple of weird camera shots when the singer and the guitarist are on the catwalk, and the singer must look more into the camera. A very good performance, and it should definitely score nice points with the juries. Luke: 15. Hungary In complete contrast to the Grannies come Hungary with their contemporary Brit-pop song that wouldn’t sound out of place in the UK charts. They’ve added a flame as the chorus kicks in each time. The lead singer isn’t looking at the camera often enough for a television show in my mind, but the song should br strong enough on its own to pick up votes. |

Back now.

I noticed he was looking skywards this afternoon. Which is better than looking like a rabbit in headlights as he often does when looking into the cam

HUNGARY
Compact disco take to the stage. Very dark stage for the electonic pop number. Vocally its all good here. This is a nice pop song and could actually qualify. |
|
By:
I'm tempted to back this as I want them to qualify and think they may just do it. It would be a mug's bet though so I'll just force myself to pass

I'm far from convinced and it's one of my favourite songs. I just find it a little limp live

16. Austria What’s there to sing of the song is perfectly fine, and the gimmick with the neon works, but the fundamental problem I have is there’s not enough shaking of the booty in a song that is all about it! Ervin: 16. Austria There is a pole dancing stick for everyone on the stage in this performance, which the girls use almost the entire time. There are some really bad camera shots during the performance, which looks rather messy. The vocals of the guys are ok. Before the final chorus, the lights go off, and we can see some neon lights on their dresses, which do not look as good as they looked in the Austrian national final. |

So Greece and Cyprus underperformed seems to be the general view.
The rest as before. |
|
By:
Yeh I'm not even that interested in the rest apart from Jedward

AUSTRIA
Trackshittaz on now for Austria I really love this song but not sure it will have the wide appeal of the public. Very much modern rap style and in your face , vocally fine and cheeky routine with the pole dancers. The blackout and luminious clothes effect looks good on camera. This is a borderline qualifier for me. |

17. Moldova Pasha is rather casually dressed, but the girls’ dresses are also a candidate for Barbara Dex! The choreography is a bit strange, but must say it works. Pasha’s vocals are great throughout the song, and all of them are enjoying the stage and smile all the time. The cameras cope with them very well. The song needs pyrotechnics before the final chorus. It all looks still very interesting, and I think the juries might put this in their overall top ten. Luke: 17. Moldova There’s a lot going on with Moldova, although unlike France they’re capturing it and it doesn’t look like a circus on stage. Pasha is actually a pretty decent singer and he’s got no problems performing the song. Given their previous qualification history, and running order position, this should be in the final. |

MOLDOVA
This is a load of fun and so colourful. Great slick movement almost zany and slapstick,Charlie Chaplin/Benny Hill. Great vocals and an excellent rehearsal again from Pasha. Love the parade a at the end |

Can't argue with those reviews tbf its sailing through

and makes Jedward looke crap in comparison
|
|
By:
There are 3 whacky songs to finish and for me Moldova is by far and away the best and most voter friendly
|
|
By:
where is moldova on your list mate?
|
|

Cheers for the updates chaps, winners from tonight Romania and Denmark so far losers Greece and Cyprus? Russia to score nil off juries but well on televote? Need some answers

|
By:
Yes but its a bit far fetched for me to treat it seriously for the final. i don't obviously share your view its better than Romania. it would be a bad draw for Romania if next to Moldova I wouldn't like that. Need Ro to follow a ballad
|
|
By:
scale of 1-10 how bad is it I'm considering Moldova for a top 3 in the semi

18. Ireland Jedward have flat hair, and are dressed in Power Ranger outfits. There is dry ice on stage, and the guys are actually synchronized! The fountain on stage looks really good on the screen, and the guys are singing ok. Before the final chorus, there is a really bad camera shot, and fireworks which are definitely unnecessary, as they give no effect at all. They go inside the fountain in the end of the song, and get wet. Should be in the juries’ top ten. Luke: 18. Ireland JEDWARD HAVE FLAT HAIR! They’re dressed like power rangers, and the stage is also filled with dry ice to hit the fact that the water feature has a massive splash-mat. They’re in time with each other, the vocal is as good as it will get, and with this running order position they ought to qualify. |

By:
moldova for top 3 that is

Much better Jedward reviews from this afternoon

IRELAND
Last song in the semi and Jedward in the sparkly gold /silver suits. Hair is again flattened into a fringe. The vocals are really good tonight. The camera angles all working well, this is really catchy and strong. Pyros at the rush. They then rush into the water fountain at the ending. Great rehearsal from Ireland, sure going through I think. |
|
By:
meant 'mad' not bad, sorry, just getting at if they have a decent chance from a late draw with the likes of Romania, Ukraine and Russia there giving them decent points
|
|
By:
than from this afternoon*

|
By:
I really don't see austria gets many votes at all followed by Moldova and Jedward
|
|

Yes leaves obviously thinks the smae. Given how far Greece may fall and Cyprus underperforming perhaps its certainly on even though im not its greatest fan
