Thanks squares, top stuff as always.Reads like good news for Joelle and Adam elimination backers, providing Adam doesn't play the sympathy card.A concern for Fanny Woo considering she is supposed to have a big production number and little rehearsal time.

No mention of how it works for the '2nd week'?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00k96j4/features/terms-and-conditions

3rd Live Show
During the live show the four remaining acts for Team Tom and Team Will will perform. At the end of the show the public will be invited to vote for their favourite acts. The one act with the highest number of votes in each team (Team Tom and Team Will) will be announced and put through to the next round. Of the remaining three acts in Team Tom and Team Will, the relevant coach will be able to save one who will join the one voted by the public in the Semi Final.

.and the same for Jessie & Dod the folling week.

4th Live Show
During the live show the four remaining acts for Team Jessie and Team Danny will perform. The same process above will be followed, so only two contestants for each team move to the Semi Final.

So huge power for the judges in the 2nd round. Only the top of the pv safe and the judges pick the one from the other 3

This leaves me feeling very uneasy. As you say huge mentor power. If a chosen one doesn't win the PV- put them through,if a chosen one does win the PV- put a duffer through.
Also at the semi-final stage,if the US version is copied, a large mentor vote can deem the PV vote virtually redundant. It's not inconcievable that fodder could progress, even to the final,in order to clear the way for a favoured performer.Unlike in the US,with no results being published by the Beeb,it could be easily manipulated if wished.

I guess you could replace it gives the judges have huge power, with TPTP have huge power, depending on how much you believe the mentors are making autonomous decisions.

Control is everything on these things now. It has evolved into something very refined and slick. Ironically it's Cowell who struggles to get the winner he really wants. The 'coaches'' input will be extremely limited, imv.

When you think about it, it's the BBC that is the most bendy when it comes to reality stuff. Song for Europe, SCD, SYTYCD, the Lord's stuff, now The Voice. All will get TCO to win by whatever means possible.

Perhaps because the BBC audience trusts the corporation, judges, what they are being told etc. Much harder to get C4 and itv voters to tow the line.

Not revealing the % and therefore not having to justify certain eviction choices helps as well.On this show they will choose 1 of 3 to go into the semi....that is simply wrong imo.

I agree Hems.

But at the end of the day all of these shows are 'bent'. It's just a case of trying to work out in whose favour.

I wouldn't agree with your last post tho cider.
I give you Jodie Prenger & Tom Chambers who come immediately to mind.

Jodie overcame probably the most biased final ever to win IDA

Both of those before my time, altho Tom got me started on specials as I've noted before. OC if the bbc had their way he would have been eliminated by the maths. My post alludes to the recent past really. I suspect those reverses have lead to more 'underhand' tactics from bbc prods. Fair call tho there aren't many 100% rules in specials betting!

Agree, these days they'd show evidence of Tom doing the dirty on his fiancee and Jodie mistreating a kitten.

Laugh you're probably not far wrong squares.

However I would argue against the idea that the BBC audience are more compliant than the itv one.
Yes, there have been some upsets in BGT in particular, but mostly down to the market overrating the appeal of singing kids and an anti cowell vote.
DOI have the most compliant audience for me and BB the least compliant.

I'll be amazed if the winner of this doesn't have the prods 100% support behind them. At least the judges on here are all respectable, been there done it got the t etc etc. Whatever way they are told to play it will be extremely difficult to defeat.

Did I read that Will wanted to sign up two of his team who lost in the battle rounds?  Jenny (v Joelle) and Jay (v Jaz)?

There were certainly claims from a couple of DS'ers who were there that Will had offered to work with at least one losing act. If not more.
There was a fair amount of confusion as to which ones tho

Ah...

"During the first live show, the five remaining acts for Team Tom and Team Will will perform. At the end of the show, the public will be invited to vote for their favourite act/s. The three acts with the highest number of votes in each team (Team Tom and Team Will) will be announced during the results show and put through to the next round. Of the two remaining acts in Team Tom and Team Will, the relevant coach will be able to save one, meaning one from each team will be sent home. At the end of this show, Tom and Will will each have 4 in their teams."

People really will watch anything providing it gets enough publicity

3/1 Max to win Danny's group? Really? Shocked

Might've totally misjudged the Max thing but I'd swap his and David's prices...
By:

When: 01 May 12 09:24
Without a doubt the most difficult group to weigh up jack.So much depends on who the prods throw their weight behind. At a push,I could make a case for all 5 acts winning the group....

They could even let this group run with no manipulation, and simply let the most popular progress.Of the 5 ,perhaps the signs have been that David is slightly favoured.Edit showing him giving up his mundane job to follow his dream at the audition, battle edit emphasising his lack of experience compared to his opponent, pimp slot for the battle show, and prominent part in Sunday's group song (even a moonwalk thrown in for good measure).Whether this justifies a best offer of 7/4 is another matter.

I have a few quid on Max at 4/1 to win the group, and extremely speculative OR E/W bets on Aleks and Hannah at 40/1 and 66/1,but I wouldn't be surprised if the two who made the semis were David and Bo!

Personally I think it's between David and Max and the others have little chance
By:

When: 01 May 12 09:33
Certainly the two most likely. My concern with this group has always been the dilution of the GL white male vote given that there are 3 runners.
By:

I think Aleks will be gone pretty quick. We kind of assume these types will always appeal to the same people, but David and Max are very different. Hannah is fodder and Bo is a koont
