remember Jools in total awe of Chaka on The Tube, and all Paula could do was snipe that she had big thighs or something similar.

mind you, they were thundrous and it didn't look like she'd finished getting dressed.

Guetta churns out about 3 songs a week so hard to keep up with all of them! Laugh

Had heard Titanium before but forgot about it and only watched it on youtube an hour ago and still couldn't hum the tune!

Guetta song is almost one of the better ones, but totally wrong for the show

from the dance routine comments it sounds like she's going more uptempo tho.

Which I guess points to a big production and TCO ;)

I agree about wrong for the show GB.

I'd backed Sophie off the back of Will's comments about her. I wish I hadn't now.

I've had a small interest in Adam going @ 9/2.

Hippies song choice is perfect imo,Butterboy will be camp but entertaing, not over pleased with Leannes choice but should have its moments, and Ruth's choice is sentimental vote winning gold.

That Foo Fighters number is a poor fit for this type of show imo ....hope he's on early.

At least a dozen.

On those song choices I'd say the hippies were #1 TCO's ;)

I also think Tylers choice may be good. That version of Higher Love could be excellent if performed well.

Hope Joelle's song title is prophetic (not in a sexual way)

from DS Headlines:

The Voice UK coach will.i.am has admitted that he doesn't know why Tyler James is competing on the show.

The Black Eyed Peas star - who picked James as one of his final five contestants in last week's Battle Rounds - claimed that he is a fan of material already published by the singer.

Tyler is an artist, a true star," he told Radio Times. "And I don't even know why he's in the competition because he has albums out and I'm a fan of them.

"He's great. And hats off to joining the competition when you have a career already."

will.i.am also praised another popular member of his team, Jaz Ellington.

"Jaz is just an angel, he's a true gift," he said. "He's on his way to legendary status because he has a legendary voice. We saw a star in the making in his performance."

Asked about the rest of his contestants, will.i.am described Joelle Moses as "a true soul singer", Francis Wood as "a little fireball" and 17-year-old Sophie Griffin as "a powerhouse".

Betfair appear to have ignored my request for some b2 markets, hate having to bet trying to second guess the judges

Shame that there's only a handful of live shows really with a changing format, betting will never settle and rack up liquidity like it does for XF

from unrtv/The Sun - Will's team have only seen him twice all week.

Given that tonight is The Voice’s first live show, one might have thought that the coaches would have been on their acts like white on rice this week, working with them to perfect their performances…

However, it seems Will.i.am is either super confident that his acts are already A1, or he’s happy to delegate, given that he’s spent most of the week jetting around the world.

And according to The Sun, he told his Team to contact him via Twitter if they needed to speak to him while he dashes to and fro to the States.

But apparently, Team Will are ok with that, and Tyler James told the paper, “He’s busy. He’ll nip to America for two days…

“He’ll nip around the world but he’ll be back when we need him.”

And Frances Wood added, “We’ve seen him twice this week. We’re only singing one song — and we need time to work on choreography and other things.”

Joelle Moses said, “Will is the best part of being in The Voice. He gives us so much creative control and input.

“Singing for Will on his own was daunting at first but I’m getting used to it because he’s amazing and he’s there to help you do your best.”

However, Jaz Ellington admitted he feels “under pressure” in the lead up to the live shows after being tipped to win the whole shebang.

I’m going to be interested to see if anyone does a U-turn and blames Will’s absence if they get booted!

from tmix/The STar:

Some of The Voice UK artists have been told what songs to sing, it has been claimed today.

The Daily Star report that Team Will singer Joelle Moses was given a track that she’s never heard before.

And Becky Hill, on Team Jessie, admitted she could only make suggestions.

The 18-year-old wrote on Twitter to a fan: “I don’t get to choose honey, I just get to send in suggestions.”

“The Voice said it was different to X Factor but it seems to have the same controversies,” a supposed source told the newspaper.

But a source at the Beeb defended the claims.

They said: “The coaches work with their acts to choose the songs they feel best suits them.”

It seems more acts have been given more freedom than others.

Frances Wood, on Team Will, told us this week: “For the lives I picked this song and it’s the first one I’ve done I’ve picked myself, so I’m really looking forward to it.

“I will be able to showcase what I really do. I’ve given everything else a go and now I can show all the viewers that this is the stuff I am about.”

getting as bad as DOI:

The Voice UK contestant Adam Isaac has reportedly injured his arm, after falling during rehearsals.

The first ten acts to take to the stage spent yesterday practising for the tonight’s first live show.

29-year-old Team Tom singer Adam, who will be rocking out to Foo Fighters tonight, is now worried about his performance.

“Adam was walking on to the stage when he slipped and fell over awkwardly on his arm. He was given a protective brace and a sling,” an insider told The Sun

But a pal added: “Adam is determined to go ahead as normal with his performance but it was touch and go for a while.”

Former X Factor vocal coach Yvie Burnett has joined rival show The Voice UK.

Scottish vocal trainer Yvie had worked on The X Factor and its sister show Britain’s Got Talent until 2010, mentoring and coaching artists including Rebecca Ferguson and Alexandra Burke.

This year Yvie has been working hard with The Voice UK acts ahead of their first live performance this weekend, preparing Team Will and Team Tom’s acts to face the stage.

a bit of an expansion on y'day's article:

Team Will’s five artists will be performing on The Voice UK live shows tonight, and here’s his rundown of how he rates them!

The Black Eyed Peas star has the youngest of the groups, but it seems that there’s no lack of confidence from Will in his singers, describing Sophie Griffin as a “powerhouse” and Tyler James as a “true star”.

On Jaz Ellington: “Jaz is just an angel, he’s got a true gift. He’s on his way to legendary status because he has a legendary voice. We saw a star in the sing in his perforce.”

Will also said of “angel” Jaz: “He has something in you. He’s got soul in a bowl, soul on a pole. He’s got soul you don’t know!”

On Tyler James: “Tyler is an artist and a true star,” he adds: “Tyler really knocked me out with his performances [on the show].

On Joelle Moses, Will told the RadioTimes: “Joelle is a like songstress, a true soul singer, and she hasn’t discovered all that she is yet.”

On Frances Wood: “Frances is a little fireball, he’s amazing and I love her spunk, her personality”

He added: “But Frances is a chameleon. She could sound like whoever’s next to her”

On Sophie Griffin: “Sophie, whoa, watch out for Sophie. Seventeen and just a powerhouse. She is amazing. She could do anything.”

Tom's comments:

Here, the Welsh legend gives his views on his final five ahead of tonight’s show, where the public will decide who stays and who goes.

On Matt and Sueleen Fletcher: “I thought they were brilliant. I love their harmony – they complement one another.”

He added: “The harmonies are really, really good. It’s fantastic.”

On Sam Buttery, Sir Tom revealed to the Radio Times: “There were a few notes in there that I thought sounded like me – sounded like me in my head anyway! I think he’s got a great voice.”

On Leanne Mitchell, Sir Tom says: “I listened to the tone of her voice and I liked the lower register. When she started, I thought she had a lot of timbre in her voice – very appealing for me.

On Ruth Brown: “She’s a great singer and that’s why hit the button. I really wanted her on my team.”

On Adam Isaac: “I’ve sung with a lot of people and a lot of different kinds of songs – I needed somebody with a strong voice who can sing and play like that.”

Format according to the DMirror:

Only two teams will be performing this weekend – Tom and Will’s – with two members from each group being kicked off on Sunday night.

Here’s how it’ll work – on Saturday night, each of Tom and Will’s five artists will sing live for the first time since the series began. The public will be able to vote for their favourites, with three artists from each team being saved on Saturday night. The bottom two artists from each team will then perform again on Sunday night and the coaches will decide which artist from their team to save.

Star article:

BBC’S hit talent show The Voice is in meltdown just hours before the start of the first live show.

The Saturday night spectacular has become a huge ratings winner for the corporation with its pledge to put raw talent over looks.

But the wannabes say they are under pressure to change their image and have also been left out in the cold.

Singer Matt Clubb rowed with stylists who tried to cut off his long hair. It was also revealed that show favourite Jaz Ellington has hired a personal trainer to help him shed pounds because he is worried he is not “pop star material”.

And mentor will.i.am flew to the US during re- hearsals and gave con- testants his email in case they had problems.

Some acts were also told what songs to sing tonight, and Joelle Mo- ses was given a track she had never heard before.

A source said: “The Voice said it was differ- ent to X Factor but it seems to have the same controversies.”

Willi.i.am’s singers have had just two 30-minute sessions with their mentor.

Tyler James, who is singing Steve Winwood’s Higher Love, said: “We saw him a few days ago but he is a busy man. He will nip back to America for two days. But we can Tweet him and we have his email.”

Cuddly crooner Jaz said: “I know it’s The Voice but I want to be the whole package. I do feel the pressure to make myself look good.”

And speaking about chopping off his locks, Matt said: “They tried to cut my hair and shave my beard and I said: ‘I can probably take two or three of you down before you pin me down and shave it.’ I said no. It’s part of me.”

Tonight The Voice goes live, with will.i.am, 37, and Sir Tom Jones, 71, going head-to-head.

Will’s five wannabes are Jaz, 27, Frances Wood, 18, Tyler, 30, Sophie Griffin, 17, and Joelle Moses, 21.

Tom’s gang comprises duo Sueleen Fletcher and Matt, both 34, Ruth Brown, 20, Leane Mitchell, 28, Adam Isaac, 29, and Sam Buttery, 20.

On Sunday’s results show, one singer from each team gets the boot.

Next week fellow coaches Jessie J, 24, and Danny O’Donoghue, 31, slug it out.

Last night a BBC source said: “Will.i.am did go to the States but was available on e-mail and by Saturday he will have had as much time with his acts as the others.

“There was a suggestion that Matt lose a couple of inches off his hair and he declined.

“And as for song choices, the coaches work with their acts to choose the songs they feel best suits them.”
