Five Leaves quoted 'We then have the UK. Again, poor live vocals and terrible staging.'

Five Leaves you will be proven totally wrong in my opinion. What background did Nicole have when she won for the Germans in 1982

I was talking about Blue last year, sunshine.

I'm sure Humperdinlkes vocal will be spot on and hopefully they've learnt some lessons from last years terrible staging.

Very hard to do with a ballad and for me not a very good one. Or one that lacks impact anyway.

He's not one for me at the price Sunshine, but GL.

Hi bexley. Two more countries have reported and I'm afraid I'm not in a position to tell you Sweden didn't get the 12 points from each.  As promised I won't tell you who did get them.

I've got a question for you all: What instructions (if any) do you think the juries will be given? What do you think they will they be looking for?
By:

When: 02 May 12 16:22
We know the official instructions. Isn't it the same every year?

The unofficial, nudge, nudge, wink, wink 'instructions' are the more interesting.

They were brought in to even out the playing field for the western european countries and they've done that with Italy last year, Jade and the UK a few years and also getting behind Lena and Germany when she clearly didn't tick all of their criteria.

My thinking for awhile is that they may feel it's Spains turn this year. Especially as it's a jury friendly song anyway.

If there was a market for who tops the jury vote, my money would be on Spain.

Any jury members who had their cash in Icelandic banks might not be too keen Laugh

Do you reckon it would be worth asking betfair for a market?

I guess they might not be too keen, but if they closed the market after the rehearsals that the juries vote then there can't be any worries over 'insider trading'

Doubt it would be poular enough. Despite the Iceland plug I wouldn't have a bet on the market myself unless I could lay Italy at odds on perhaps Grin

It would be more popular than many of the ESC sub markets I reckon.

It could be quite lively.

I'd certainly be a layer of Russia ;)

Finland deserves to top be with the juries.

Too lowkey and subtle for the viewers, but It's an absolute gem of a song.

For a rare occasion this Eurovision we agree on something - the being a gem and too subtle for most part. Deserving of top with jury? bit of a stretch for me

I'm missing Mr Youtube's input - where are you Melv?

Anything running away with it this year ie youtube hits? Russia?

I see Romania has over 5.5m for its official video - seems impressive to me

lol There's a cello. Much classier Silly

I also think it's very well staged. Putting the contemporary dancer in front of the singer was a very smart idea, as it means you can have close-ups of the singer without the dancer when needed.

It's not a song that's ever going to work at a noisy concert, but I think a proportion of the tv audience could share my love for it and it could do better than many expect.
Better than that awful Icelandic dirge anyway Silly

..and talking of cello's. A friend has got me into Bach's cello suite. Beautiful stuff. Very soothing and stops me tilting when I'm playing poker in the early hours.

Along with Iceland, it's a song that does nothing for me, yet many of you shroodies really like and clearly many on youtube like too

Money on here for Sweden but no idea why? Just to counter Italy drift?

Arlene Philips was talking about the "staging" of Engleberts song on loose women today, she responsible for it apparentley. Its very simple 2 female backing dancers with Englebert singing direct to the camera nothing more.  Beats me why we have to fly her over to choreograph that.

Because its the BBC and license fee payers money....and these are the feckers who won't release the voting figures.  And I used to be their biggest defender,

Not keen on the idea of dancers for ballads.

They tend to look out of place.

Duuno if the Sweden money is due to the Italian drift, or vice versa

No plunge on Sweden on the HS according to oddschecker. maybe its just the realisation there's no obvious song that will beat it? One might of course. Some guy had 1k laid on here which I assume got taken.

I'm making sure Romania is green after endless googling. Just a gut instinct to have it on side.

Bexley look away now. This a different poll I think but note that 18 out of 21 countries give Sweden 12 points.  If she comes across like she did in Melodifestivalen I'll be nervous but hopeful.
