HNY, all!

Haven't seen any of the CL, but I did get a notification on my phone this morning that Ronnie had withdrawn after having a tantrum, duffing his cue up and throwing it in the bin in defeat to the Milkman, so it perhaps is no surprise that he's withdrawn from The Masters "on medical grounds" Plain.  Robbo takes his place.

Action starts 1300 Sunday.

not quite the same without him at the big events though, I know he's a bit of a diva but the big events don't have the same mystique without him

Just read the Dave Hendon piece on the ES website.  Apparently it was a 10-year old cue that he'd won the WC with!

Very hard to have sympathy with ROS.  Nobody has forced him to make the commitments he has away from WST - same goes for all of the top players, TBH.  They've all been playing exhibitions in Asia over Xmas/NY and a number then went on to take part in the CL.  On its own, the CL has often been a good way for players to get their game in shape ahead of the second half of a season, but some certainly seem to be trying to burn the candle at both ends, and in the middle, too.

This is dire so far.  Much more entertainment to be had watching Spurs not lead Tamworth after 70 mins.

Yes - wasn't a great MSI for the beeb watchers - one sad event after another - even the Higgins bit had sombre music being played over it and all he was talking about was a decent break 20 years ago and Robbo stepping in for Ronald - all in all a throughly miserable opening afternoon so far Sad and I backed Robbo Angry Laugh

JB needs to change his tactics.  Sooooo many times he goes sailing off into the sunset against the best players and ends up getting reeled in.  He's much better off keeping it tight.

I was involved a bit before that, TBH, mate.  Always operate on reduced stakes after a break as a lot can change in the gap.

A pleasing start to 2025, all the same.

It gets worse and worse for Higgins. Needs massive assistance to get over the line. Everyone in the game must be able to see that. Any fear factor will have long gone. The other oldies have shown they can still do it, but he must realise he is never going to win again. He can't be enjoying continually falling apart under pressure so you wonder how long he is going to continue putting himself through it. If he carries on his ranking will just continue to drop.
