I think Luca battled really well last night, still not at his best. But what a shotmaker, amazing player to watch, great entertainer .

Come on, Pandora, Kyren should have finished the match off 5 times before he did.  That's not battling, that's being let off the hook.  The only time he really battled was in the safety exchange at the end of frame 10.

No-one could ever say he's not a great shotmaker, but that's because he has to be.  His cueball is terrible and his shot selection to get there is often questionable. 

Got tied up this morning longer than expected.  Can't really argue with the Tubbs v Shon prices across the season as a whole, but a replication of the manner of the victory against Robbo could make things interesting.  Wouldn't be the first time Shon has failed to follow up, though, and Tubbs obvs will be wanting to get one over him after their war of words earlier in the season.

McMaunus just said -  Needle between the two? Shon not best friends with Maguire and he's lost last 4? matches against him - so if these two are not getting on it might work against Smurph.

TV likes trying to build up these rivalries though

Oh, this one (Tubbs v Shon) was very public, though, mate.  Clearly no love lost.

I thought they were once good pals then Murphy was critical of Allen's slow play when commentating. Probably better if they both concentrated on playing and jacked in commentating.

They had words prior to the commentary incident.  Tubbs basically called him a hypocrite on Twitter about an inconsistent view on something or other (can't remember what), and then soon after, Shon essentially said Tubbs was cheating by playing slowly.

Interesting stuff cheers Lat - Eurosport commm was just talking about it - Allen certainly started the better.

Kyren looks slightly overpriced v Judd here tonight.

Not much between them IMO, so had a small tickle on Kyren to get past him here.

Kyren is unlikely to get as many gifts tonight as he got last night.  If Judd plays like he did against Ding, it will be extremely difficult for Kyren, IMHO.

He will have to play a bit better than v Luca yes, but he's well capable of that.

the bigger the stage the better judd usually plays,if judd plays well there is only one winner, but you never know

He's often underestimated IMO, just like when he won the WC last time

Other than frame strike rate (where Kyren is well ahead), Shon leads all my metrics for the season to date, mostly by not much.  Take out the non-meaningful matches between the two and the H2H is 8-3 in favour of Shon.  He's the value play, for me.

Won't be around till the evening session, though.

No bet for me this final, at these odds - either could win it, and I like Kyren currently, but recent form for Sean and H2H make it a no bet on Kyren, at odds on.

id have priced this at start of tournament  1/2 wilson , think hes a certainty myself

wilson the type who can only win big ones when the best players don't fire - he's not going to win multiple "triple crown" titles. if murphy's on his game he should win

You got it Shon played well Kyren missed red at 2-1 looked like making it 2-2 next he was 4-1 behind. Couple nice century breaks for Shon. Smurph entertaining the crowd at the end of the ton breaks/session may have wound Kyren up a little though - see if that has any effect this evening - but Shon deserves the lead.

Kyren looked totally peed off that he lost that match, I think he knew Murphy was wobbling but didn't take advantage enough.

Wilson is a marathon man though - bring on the Worlds IMO...

ps, why do the chinese players become a no-show in this sort of stuff, yet seem to blanket out the tournaments from semis on, when it's in china...?

The ones in-form (Xiao & Lei) aren't in the top 16 on the two-year list so didn't get invited (Xiao currently in 17th).  Of the three who were here, Ding remains Ding, brilliant on his day, but incredibly fragile.  Si is hot and cold, and Zhang just can't finish frames off this season.

yep, some good points there on the chinese players - the top 3 though still poor here considering how dominant they can sometimes seem as a snooker nation.

Mind you could say similar for a few other 'top' contestants here (e.g. Selby, Luca...)
