the BBC love to talk up Selby - no point trashing someone who occupies so much of their airtime. apparently snooker purists love seeing balls not being potted very often.

Personaly I don't mind the safety play. It's the lack of quality that puts me off.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with great safety play - that was basically what snooker was all about in its heyday in the late 70s & 80s.
What's different with Selby is that he deliberately plays slow in an era where every other player gets on with it. |

Another final ruined with The Jester and his take on snooker involved. To his credit he has found a way to winning this event with minimal talent, just set your stall out to be there for 6 weeks not three, the others get bored enough that he wins via default.

He cant blame him, its just a terrible watch when he is involved in a match. Snookers equivalent to having 10 men parked behind the ball and relying on a lapse in concentration from the opposition

Well it's a mixed opinion on here but me personally, I think Selby is absolutely brilliant.
Although I haven't watched too much tonight admittedly he's the man to be on when the going gets gritty. |

allen would fould in a decider anyways. selby to win 5 is an incredible achievement by a great of the game...but iv'e seen enough snooker in this one match to last me until next year. horrific viewing all round. don't think allen has made any decent break either
