I'm on McGill but didn't like the way he lost focus against Lis. Smiling and playing poorly, hitting wrong balls etc
It's like he ups a gear when threatened but I want him to crush his oppos for my health's sake.

Some good analysis. The conditions must be playing a oart in the rise of Si and Jones... Good to see Luca keeping his end up here...

It was interesting, because in his post-match interview, he said he didn't feel like he'd done much wrong, but that wasn't the impression this thread gave.

Yeah, a few unfirced errors from McGill in the later stages...

Im not sure he has the ruthless killer aspect needed to prevail overall.

McGill fell over the line after playing beautifully early on. His ball striking was poetry taking that big lead, imo
Some players would be reluctant to criticise their "bottle/killer instinct" on tv and I reckon McGill would be some such player.
Total guesswork on my part, but I was sure he will crush Si but I'm not so sure now so have laid off some LTT green.

I just wonder whether Si, as a repeesentative of an embattled Chinese snooker community, is on a mission. He is flying the flag here. Surely Ding is in his ear guiding the youngster through his campaign.

A player with a cause is dangerous, as we see in the final scene of the Hustler ;)

That long yellow from Jones in frame 8 - superb. However, 2 relatively gettable pots missed... Allen takes it to level up...

Brecel is a waste of space just like lisowski, some things will never change. It's

JJ should be two up, played well enough to be, didn't convert.

I don't see Allen pulling away.

McGill hasn't found a rubbish session yet, I feel he will.

In a nutshell theses outsiders will be worth checking trading and keeping inside as I see both games being to and fro( JJ Si).

In the other game, Selby will need to improve.

Yes agree  the giggilo, could be the easiest for Ronniem,  yet he should have had Ding, Williams, murphy or trump and selby according to seedings

This season, Higg has won 55.3% of all frames played. Selby is at 55.47%.
By:
CCD.
When: 25 Apr 23 14:05
McGill is at 56.5 and Si is at 53.33%

On those stats, McGill and Selby go through.

Trump,Bingham, Wilson, Ding (x 2), Maguire, Fu, Murphy

The list of players who McGill has lost to at the crucible. All ranked higher with exception of Bingham and Mags. Latter is the only real blip in his history here i would say. Personally i wouldn't be worried about ending of last night's match, the pedigree is there and while I'm not saying Si can't win, he doesn't fit the profile of a player McGill loses to and it will be a shock to me if he does.

Though should add you can say Jamie Clarke probsbly didn't fit profile either and he could and maybe should have beaten mcgill! Still, over the years it's a decent pedigree for me.
