I know Ronnie can play possum, but wouldn't we say some of his play in that match reflected being under the weather too? Can't recall him having so many 'health' moans during the WC before (though possibly)?

Allen on comms duty this morning and have to say he does a decent job of it, but a day before his opening match? Not sure it's worth reading too much into it but i wouldn't be a big fan personally, i don't think it ever did murphy much good anyway.

Murphy would have commentated on his own matches given half the chance, and he would regularly appear during sessions he wasn't playing on days he was!

That is so true. I recall one particular year he was doing these little segments about the other players, offering typically forthright assessments of their strengths and weaknesses and decent telly as it was, i thought it was a pretty hairbrained thing for him to be doing at the time. |
