I know it goes for quite of few higher ranking types, but at his best Vafaei is prob a match for anyone isn't he..?
By:
There was a time where he always underperformed massively when centre stage, but he seems to have got past that now. Think he's beaten most of the big names at some point, and at his best, he's pretty formidable.

LMFAO!!! Shon talking about how "pinching the pocket" has become a phrase of the past because "the pockets have become so small that you can't really afford to flirt with the jaws"

Just over 2 years since Hossein finally moved and settled in the uk and think it's beginning to show in terms of consistency. Been to tehran and it's a lovely city and nice to have friends and family nearby, but doing it while trying to advance your pro snooker career was never going to work out imo

Just noticed his last meeting with Ron was interesting result:
5-0 to Vafaei ![]() |
By:
Yeah, Ronnie very definitely had no interest in going to Germany, so I wouldn't read too much into that.

2/1 When Ding was leading 5-4 ever looked like losing..look at the draw O'Sullivans played two non seeds and if Williams goes out he plays Brucel or Robertson ffs a virtual bye to a semi final of the worlds..

Fair enough Lat, did wonder seeing that!
By:
That's right lats and don't forget he qualified for his tour card at 16 but was 4-5 years before he could actually play properly on tour due to all that visa shyte. He spent one of those years just mucking around Ireland, saw him play here a couple of times and still has a good following here. Has a proper set up finally so really should be consolidating top 16 spot this calendar year.
By:
Was he really only 16?!?
Must admit, I do remain quite skeptical even now that he's only 28!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
By:
Well he was supposedly 16 when he won the world amateur but not sure if he had the full grown beard and gone bald by that stage tbh

By:
When I first really noticed him playing I did used to wonder when Alexi Sayle had started playing snooker professionally...

Any Higgins v Grace predictions:
I'd go 10-5 Higgins. |
By:
What news of the tables this year?
Surely there must have been at least one commentator who has observed a problem wih the roll of the balls, and a Specialist Fast Responder Team consequently rushed in overnight to reassemble it into the very same condition they found it in? Decorum MUST prevail at the Crucible. |
By:
Higgins not had a great season, but this is his place where he nearly always turns up properly.
By:
It's one of those where you are taking on trust that JB is going to improve for the occasion, because he's been bang average this season.
Davy's scoring better than ever, but he's still well inferior to JB. Without JB improvement, it's probably 10-7/10-8, with JB improvement, it could be 10-3/10-4. |
By:
Either way, very hard to see anything other than Higgins winning this one, he must have been laughing getting this draw.
By:
It would be a surprise, yes!

They've almost got a matching hairdo

How stupid was David Grace there ffs
By:
Best thing about him is the walk on music, he'll soon be going his own way, here.
By:
Jimmy Robertson, another total clown.
These players breaking through still, shouldn't be anywhere near the worlds. |
By:
Fair to say Davy has been horrific so far.
By:
Higgins 3-0 but missing the ball totally from a few inches away from the cueball...

Lumpy's on MJW
By:
MJW much better today, 10-5 (6-0 on the afternoon)
By:
Yeh, he finally woke up and remembered where he was, after plenty senior moments yesterday..
By:
4-1 Higgins, pretty much exactly as expected so far.
By:
And Jimmy was rank awful today, which also helped, but MJW's pot success was 94% for the session going into the last frame, which is not to be sniffed at.
By:
Think my mum could have potted that last missed red by Grace there

Getting harder to see which pocket Grace is aiming for now
By:
Looks like head gone to me.
By:
Frame back fair play, still 6-2 on par..
By:
7-2
all over before last session really. |
