Fair play to both of them, a very entertaining match.

Sounded like Williams thought both cross doubles had been flukes he was obv a bit grumpy when your so far behind its ok fighting back but worth nothing if you lose

What an imbecilic interview that was, to think that tool Walker actually gets paid for that.

Dennis Taylor said they aren't flukes because "they're always on" - but clearly a lot of fortune attached to potting them.

rob walker is a good announcer from a script but he's totally 2 dimensional - his commentary is abysmal.

Cross doubles like the judd ones are about a 6 or 7/1 per shot. So to get 2 is lucky, imo

Trumps demeanour gave it away happy to reach the final,he seems happy with that while O'Sullivan seems very confident, hardy surprising after seeing Trump capitulate all season,i suspect the 5/4 -2.5 frames will look very generous if that's the case, every match O'Sulivan has been value and on the handicaps..And again the books have done it again, even if Trump were 6 clear, you still wouldn't want to touch him.this could easily be 18-8 upto 18-14...

Never really did manage to get into the tournament up to this point, but I am quite excited and intrigued by the final.

Judd leads the lifetime H2H 12-11, with ROS just ahead on frames count 147-146.

Ronnie is comfortably outscoring Judd this season and that gap has grown further during the tournament.  Ronnie's made 45x 50+ breaks in 81 frames to Judd's 30 in 92 frames.  That's a significant difference.  Countering that slightly, you can definitely make the case that Ronnie's had the far easier/more favourable draw.

Prior to their most recent meeting, there was a real sense that Judd had moved into a position of dominance where he "owned" Ronnie and that he enjoyed beating him.  Some of Judd's most complete displays have come against Ronnie, and I think that is the thing that excites me most about this match up.  Judd is almost certainly going to have to raise his level if he's to prevail, though Ronnie's form in finals (in general over the last couple of seasons) is still a bit sketchy.  It does have the makings of a potential classic.

I can understand why the market is so strong on Ronnie given their respective form here, but, given their overall history, I think we're close to the stage where Judd becomes a play at the prices.

Fingers crossed for an epic.

actually don't think this will be that close
i see whoever does prevail winning by 4-6 frames
we have seen runs of frames w/o reply esp in Judd's matches
but i don't think we will see that to such a pronounced degree
basically, whoever pots the 1st red is nailed onWink

Cheers for the write-up Lats - good info as always.

If my life depended on it I would be on Ronnie but i'll be cheering Judd all the way!

Good luck all - You never know, we could see an appearance from Ms Ryder tomorrow night which would be great!

Great (and the right) match-up for a WC final IMO.

Struggling to see a betting angle as I think price is about right - though if pushed I'd have a very small interest on Trump as a value bet just about. Purely because there's arguments either way here, and he is the outsider betting wise.

Worry with backing Trump is that form wise he's been very hit and miss - but surely he brings his game to this final?

Ronnie on other hand, been playing blinding obviously for most of this tourny, but that can mean he's already played his best stuff too early...

Yeah, nice write up as ever lats. It always struck me about judd that even as a relative newcomer to the tour, he generally put it up to ronnie when they met. Seemed to have no fear or awe of him as many of his fellow young pros did, which is reflected in the very even hth. So i don't see any worries on that front, just comes down to who produces their best and sees out the multi sessions. Found their interviews yesterday very interesting, Ronnie saying he'd be happier sitting on the eurosport couch for 17 days than playing  (I believe that no problem), judd saying he'd no expectations this year, feeling no pressure and trying to enjoy it. Might well work for him but ronnie has more compelling case for me, once he convinces me he desperately wants that hendry record i don't see him easily beaten. I think he wants it really badly and should get it.

Wonder whether there will be any 'crowd factor' in this match up - crowd supporting Ronnie more? And would that make a difference?
By:
gjohn101
When: 01 May 22 12:34
I wouldn't think either of these would be affected by crowd in any way but you never know.

One other thing i noticed and judd touched on it yesterday are the average shot times. Both Judd and Ronnie were 23+ seconds which is higher than normal and judd was quite self critical about it, saying he wanted to get more fluent and stop deliberating over shots. Ronnie has been very fidgety, cue balls, object balls incessantly cleaned, the fcking chalk rolling across the floor every second shot etc. Normally that kind of stuff would raise a red flag for me, but his focus has looked pretty sound for all of it tbf.

It's a triangle final too so we can expect more kicks and lot more cue ball cleaning I suppose!

Trumps been playing poorly all season, gave up against Mc Guire and got lucky,he chucks the towel in when getting behind, nowhere near his best and can't pot a long ball, its a Mc Donalds snooker type fan final..Lots of misses with oloads of hype and O'Sullivan bucket centuries..

Think it mainly depends on how Ronnie's game is. If his eye's in and his game's "on" i reckon he wipes the floor with Trump.

I've jumped around on this one, must admit, but actually decided on a small bet on Ronnie at 1.7

Can't ignore his overall class so far, and the record for motivation too.

I really want Ronnie to win. But if Trump brings the form he had against Higgins when he won the title it could be humiliating for the rocket

I'd definitely agree about the comments about Trump when he takes on O'Sullivan. He has always seen O'Sullivan as THE challenge, and takes great enjoyment in beating him. Even before Trump was the force in the game he is now, he would always talk his chances up pre-match against O'Sullivan, although he was always a big underdog. O'Sullivan's incredible levels of intensity, throughout this tournament, are the biggest indicator of him believing this is his year to get his 7th World title. Those safety exchanges with Higgins were so tough, and even though Higgins was well below par, and the scoreline was comfortable enough, it must have been a hugely draining match for O'Sullivan mentally, although in fairness it didn't look like in his interviews afterwards. It will be interseting to see if he can keep those intensity levels so high if Trump gets on top. I didn't fancy Trump pre-tournament (especially at the prices) but he has shown real grit and determination to get here. You could argue that McGill, Bingham and Williams all failed to turn the screw when they had the chance, but I don't think Trump would have got through these 3 matches in a year when he was playing more fluently. His shot selection has been conservative (although it is more conservative than most people seem to think) and his safety game has looked very solid. Given what he went through against Williams, it will be interesting to see if he has any reaction today. He really can't afford to start slowly, and let O'Sullivan into his stride. I think the prices are about right, given the huge pressure on O'Sullivan to win his 7th (despite what he says) and his recent poor record in finals - so no bet for me at the start. Let's hope for a great match.

Trumps long potting has been way better than Ronnie
That will be the difference
Judd wins 18-12/13

Trump has won the last 4 major finals between them
7-3 up in total
There is absolutely no fear factor in play here.
Hope they both play well
Good luck all
