We discussed a possible “china effect” earlier in the week and seems it’s come to pass alright. Murphy and ROS in the sf and while Wilson did make the journey, he was at least knocked out in an earlier round. Which leads me to hawkins today, also beaten early so may have freshness on his side. True, others have had an extra days rest but it might still make some difference. I’d definitely fancy the hawk to win his first match at a bare minimum.

I thought B.Hawkins would be a narrow favourite to beat M.Allen also gj. If China hadn't happened you'd probably say it was 50-50 over 7 frames on a table with 9 ball pool pockets. But, you'd have to think M.Allen will do well to be spot-on mentally for this with so little preparation time.
M.Selby seems to be saving his best form for China at the moment. I'd probably just about favour him to beat Robbo, but on this table over this distance given his poor recent results in the UK, it would be a brave man to take the short odds. |
