he's done very well twice now
By:
would think he's survived the most dangerous moments
By:
fu would have been finished if he lost that frame
By:
Selby literally gave away 2 frames in less than 3 seconds when in lead with stupid errors, then battles for 20 minutes to win a single one. Needs his head sorted.
By:
really good chance for 4-2 now

How are these balls dropping?!?!

Gentlemen.
The less said about Robbo the better. As for Selby lay him with the utmost confidence at The Crucible he is gone. Watched the guy for twenty years and next to Ronnie is the best safety player I have ever seen but not to have beaten a very underwhelming Fu last night totally confirms for me he is shrouded in decline. Some will laugh at that but having watched all the greats leave their peaks behind from Davis to white from Hendry to O'sullivan and Higgins (both) also Williams. Some think its their long game that flags up decline but it never is, it's that shocking 2 footer miss that creeps in that usually leaves their opponent with the frame at their mercy. It did for Hendry more than anyone else because the way he played the game. Fu will have to improve drastically to make the final with the 5th and 6th frame explaining why he has never progressed in the game, did so much wrong in both but got away with it. Now the laughter has subsided I have one wish left for this tournament and that is Carter does not make the final, for sure a very fine player but bored me to tears in 2 world finals and that can never be forgiven ![]() Wish the guy would just grab victory instead of defeat. Cost me a fortune over the years ![]() I think the table is playing more like a 90s table and perhaps the thousands of complaints are having some influence and not before time. |

Are we going to see the start of a period of Trump domination ? Robbo cost me a £565 acca
By:
Hitman.
For sure he is maturing but whether this table will ever allow anyone to dominate is a serious question, the bar has definitely been lowered with regards to breakbuilding and getting the white from A to B not to mention balls entering pockets that would have been rejected on heavier cloths. Love to see him win this year he certainly has the talent but intelligence may be questionable. Anyway, my main bet will be a new Champion. |

Moondan you said exactly the same about mark last season his game was in serious decline and he won the worlds and has been number 1 for yonks,he maybe playing poorly but there's no way you can say his games in decline based on best of 9s in these mickey mouse tournaments.Infact wouldn't surprise me if he remains number 1 for a very long time,he's playing poorly this season but no reason why he won't be playing well again next, not as though he's that old et at least another 3/4 seasons left of playing well.

anyone about?
By:
Giggs,
Not sure he deserves to be number 1 on recent results. Anyway, in my opinion his game is not as strong as it was a few years ago. He has benefited from the decline of Ronnie and the older guard and its no surprise he can live with the likes of Hawkins and the other Journeymen who have taken advantage of the real players coming to the end of their careers. You have said many times that its a poor period in the game and you are right. |
By:
Mark has lost the cutting edge no doubt.
It will return no doubt either, and soon enough i'd imagine. Its all just part of a process and his love for the game will ensure his standards are very high for some years yet. |
By:
Or put it this way.
Mark will earn more on the table in the next 5 years than either Judd or Ding. |
By:
Watching Hamilton reminds me of what a great player he should have become.
His career was put on hold because he broke his arm going to the rescue of a mate on a night out and he never fully recovered his top 10 seeding. He was good when the big 4 were good, certainly everyone feared him. |
By:
Had a fabulous attacking game.
By:
At the moment though he looks like road kill.
Burnt out is Anthony with the schedule it seems |
By:
Pecker, cannot see that. Trump and Ding have years in front of them and its hard to see them not retiring Selby.
You only get so many years with your top game. |
By:
Moon
I hate to admit it but since Ding lost his mum i have been having visions of a little boy in tears holding a big cup with all the eyes of the world on him(irony) and now the comeback against Higgins to reinforce that image... Scary as it is he still wont appeal as a bet.... |
By:
Moon,i only gave him 5 years.
Yes time and the tides wait for no man........ ![]() |
By:
Quite strange that I've had the exact same image, perhaps his game will be more relaxed now as using one of the davis clichés you have to play as though it means nothing..good old steve

By:
could be so Giggsy
It's definitely mental with Ding. |
By:
Pecker, with regards the tide,
I see both Ding and Trump turning into Sunami's and depositing selby lower down the league than leicester. |
By:
If they had the mental capacity to match their snooker talent Moon, they would have shown it.
Judd will soon be a veteran and his long will decline. Ding might just make it add up but i have yet to see the signs pointing to that outcome. |
By:
Ding's problem is that it's far too easy to put him on the backfoot.
By:
Wise yes, a soft centre it seems, and the ability to play abysmal for a session at times.
By:
It suggests poor self esteem or someone behind the scenes putting ridiculous pressure on his shoulders. I don't know the answer. When we see interviews he seems quite timid. Maybe it's just his natural temperament and a much harder situation to solve.
By:
I find it very difficult to argue about Ding or Trump as both have cost me more than most, not quite as much as Ronnie but they are getting there.
For sure both are head cases and not the most snooker intelligent but Selby took 10 years to become a threat and neither of the other 2 will suffer burn out but Mark surely is. |
By:
bit like you Wise just got no bollox when it really matters
By:
and then ironically you've got the polar opposite in Judd Trump who seems overconfident of his abilities.

When you say that Selby will win more Trump and Ding over the next 5 years that seems to me the words of a man that is blind drunk. |
