Same old isn't it,looked superb in first 4 franmes then went to pieces got lucky in the 5th won him the match..i think he knows he has the beating of o'sullivan but then strangely seems to completely bottle it against players not in the same league.Makes absolutely no sense to me at all..

Ronnie and John have that haunted look but they should be really thankful that they haven't been found out a few seasons ago.
Neither have been at 80% for at least 5-6 seasons but easier potting conditions in that time have prolonged their careers.

Anyway the game should move on.

Talking of moving on. I think the haggis should move to the bbc, his comments belong with the likes of Davis and his Parrot.
Anyone would think he was addressing a pre school group of 4 year olds and Ronnie must feel uneasy about his over the top hero worship that surely gives him concern about sitting next to him let alone giving him a rear view.

I must say the table has been half decent but thought last nights match looked to have pockets more forgiving than in earlier games but with Ronnie and Judd playing Hearn wasn't going to miss a trick.

Nice to see Ding give John a startGrin after all he is looking old and I had the courage to have a bit of 9s but not enough to take any of the 25s that every ounce of me was telling me to at 4 nil down.

I have decent bets on Ding and Robbo but just get the feeling that trump will serve it up to me. Such is lifeSad

Now is the time to back Judd for the worldsCoolCoolCool  with a saver on DingGrin

Giggs,

In the post match interview Trump was very honest about blowing it when matches were won and that is a big step in the right direction.
Interesting that Judd leads Ronnie 8-7 in the head to heads and I cannot believe that will not be extended in any future meetings and with the rest of the game seeing just how vulnerable both john and Ronnie are its obviously going to get more difficult for them.

Moondan,

Congrats on your Ding and Robbo investments, I believe the world championship layers were quaffing champagne last night celebrating the results Grin

I accept your point about hawkins, but actually it's not so much that i have any particular fancy for the hawk, more a blind spot i have for Robertson. Just cant fathom the guy at all, can never get him right. I promise myself to simply avoid all his matches but of course i break that rule all the time Cry

Did follow you in on Ding yesterday and thought I'd scored a decent one but naturally Murph let me down for the double. If its not my lack of judgement failing, its the old reliable monster greed. So it goes!

Judd for the worlds? Where have i heard that one before? He's the best player in the world, probably, but not a proven winner. In an era when tournaments are being handed out every week, he's won a total of 6 ranking events. I think Ding once did that in a season. He could trade low again, like he did in 2015, but never one to have total faith in I reckon.

Won't mind being proven wrong, though. Have always liked the kid.

Johnnythebull,

Always a fav of mine to watch but I just get the impression he is needing too many chances in a frame now but hope I am wrong.
For me he is one of the greats but took too long to get his career up and running with regards wins but considering the field with the likes of Hendry, Williams, Higgins, and O'Sullivan to name just 4 he has proved his class.

Gentlemen,

For me Robbo is the fav for this and just backed him again. Agree with all you say but nothing unusual there as we have seen it all before.
Robbo is likely to go on a run now but hope somebody breaks his leg for the Worlds (just kidding)  He is a victim of his own mind games with himself but most players have some weakness.
Ronnie  (mr excuses) blames the tightness of his waistcoat for his loss yesterday but he just uses any excuse to deflect the blame from himself.
The main reason why I would never put anyone above Hendry is because he only ever blamed himself.

Good tournament but it could be better with a first to 10 as there is ample time and would be a better indicator for the Crucible.
Love this time of the year, both spring and the Crucible just around the corner.LoveLoveLove

Fu is hitting the ball like a dream at the moment, if he gets pays Selby tonight I think he'll go onto win outright.

You're right moondan...nothing remotely new here at all, same old same old, we've seen it all before. Remember Robbo trouncing Ronnie at the masters last year before getting trounced himself by Murphy. And didnt he beat Ronnie last month someplace before losing tamely in the next round (to hawkins maybe?). So no surprise to me if he gets caned by Ali today after looking so good yesterday....but as i said, i'm leaving it alone. Given up trying to work out these guys quirks and moods....i might take up the virtuals instead!

marco's just gone off the boil a little just lately but well capable of lifting this
judd now a pretty skinny fave imho..could easily win but just has those flaws which aren't going to go away now
that's what's intriguing about snooker
it's not so much about the strengths of the guys as more so their fallibilities which keep preventing them from achieving what they are capable of
attitude determines altitude not aptitude but it's obviously no impediment to have a fair sprinkling of the latter
no better embodiment of the adage than mark Selby

If you put a proposal to the players that all ranking tournaments should be decided by drawing lots, they'd probably vote that in too

Shameful behaviour by hearn, but i'll give him this, he's a canny operator,

By creating the 128 player tour, he's ensured the players will always back him because those lower down will simply vote for their own self interest. The top players - mostly those who voted against the shoot out - are marginalised. Whenever anyone complains, hearn can just say, but this is what the players want, he knows how easy it is to manipulate things to get them on side.

Like i said, a very clever guy.

By:

When: 09 Mar 17 13:43
Shoot outs no big deal to be sure. I dont really care much either way, but he's making a point and sending a lesson to the top players who dont want to play in it - "it's here to stay whether you like it or not."

It's when he gets round to rejigging the world champs, taht's when people will finally sit up and take notice and by then it might well be too late.
By:

I dont think he will fiddle with the worlds tbh, he knows there would be a backlash, he has to keep one tournament for the purists
