The very last bet of February finished with Shearian winning at 15/1. The other plus on the day was narrowing Ludlow down to just one race and landing the Venetia Williams runner, Ballyoliver at 71/1.
Combined the two each-way bets made up for the 0 for 3 at Southwell, a sign that I still don't have a grip on the track and perhaps questions about the surface and its recovery since flooding at the close of last year.
I started reading through February last night reviewing the pluses and minuses, summarizing my notes and preparing for the close of jumps and the start of the new flat season.
For 'weak faves', I seem to be wary on restarting them. Perhaps part of the mindset and will update you on this in the coming week.
Thanks, again, for your messages in my in-box this morning....
Yesterday, 8 selection producing two winners. M J Woodhouse moved in from 15/2 so I wasn't alone on that one. Three fave's were backed but the only one to win was Double Dash while Hardy Red ran a disappointing race and One Scoop Or Two was beaten by the day's gamble in the last at Wolverhampton.

I'm changing how the days are rolled out to take on the noon starts.
I'll be posting the 'weak faves' earlier. I'll try to do this all at once but if the schedule doesn't allow, I'll post the earlier races then double-check and post the balance.
I'll then follow with any selections to back, again, if necessary posting the early races then returning.
I'll continue to put updates in bold but it is worth checking in later since I tend to use the stop watch on the first few races these days then may follow with a later selections.
Evening racing, I will post if I will be playing. Good luck on your day.

Reading through the meetings yesterday, I found it difficult to see through the card clearly, ending up with four over three meetings.
It came down several factors including an onslaught of trainers and jockeys that hadn't been in the early top slot. But mainly, when I went through the cards, I found several solid, backable faves and it became clear it was a day for backing rather than laying.
Of the 23 morning faves (19 clear faves and 2 races with joint faves) over the three tracks I studied, ten won their races (43% strike rate). The return backing a point per horse would have been been just shy of 15 pts (ROI of 73%), some paying better if you had placed your bets earlier.
By the end of the day, of my for selections, three had won confirming my reservations.
