As the forum's number one Leonard Cohen fan, i had to get Number 79 - The Future (absolutely cracking song, other forumites may recall it from the credits of Natural Born Killers) . I saw Leonard perform it on Jools Holland's Later over 30 years ago, along with another brilliant song Dance Me To The End Of Love. That performance changed my perception of his music and i've loved it ever since. The greatest lyricist ever imo.
Ref Number 78 - as a pedant i have to point out that Without You was originally written and recorded by the ill fated duo Pete Ham and Tom Evans of Badfinger. So sad what fate dealt that band, more victims of the unscrupulous Stan Polley could have been huge. |
