While all this is going on, surely the Saudis or Emiratis are desperately trying to act as go-betweens and mediate it. No-one in the region wants this. The UAE in particular must be looking at deep financial ruin now that the veil has fallen on the Dubai charade. Only problem I suppose is that the Israelis accidentally wiped out the chosen successors so now they're down to the batsh*t son who even the previous Ayatollah wanted to keep away from power. And that batsh*t son has just lost his wife and kid so it's gonna take the deal of the century to get him to the table.

How come these marines and all their equipment are all the way over in Japan?
Did the Yanks not envisage a scenario where the Ayatollahs would play the one card they had? I think the Americans should be very weary of sending in the marines. Boots on the ground or in the water could lead to hostages and hostages is what the Iranians do 'best'. |
