No matter what the circumstances if the driver was brown/muslim the normal people would already have agitated, councillors wives would have commentated and there would already be riots. This thread would be 6 pages long.
Why does the right wing only get 'angry' when told to and when brown people commit, or are seen to commit crimes but not white? Anyone would think they are lazy pathetic idiots just being racist. If its not that what is it?

You aren't stupid.

The agitation comes from the authorities palpably trying to supress information when the suspect/perp has a 'protected' identity, and amplifying it if they are unprotected. Top of that unprotected list would be an older white British man. Unless the establishment has an investment in them, eg Mike Amesbury.

Therefore this case appears to follow exactly the same well trodden pattern that we are accustomed to.

As far as the length of the fred is concerned, it's pretty difficult to deduce the motivation from what is publicly known. The MO of driving into crowds deliberately is commonly islamist, where the motivation is known, ie hatred of the western way of life.

Much as we thought snider didn’t give a fcuk about the victims last night, simply interested in getting one more slimy vote for the neanderthal, benefits scrounging party.

I'm not absolutely sure to be fair, the analogous feature is digging a hole, and then getting a bigger shovel.

'charlie' couldn't help himself with spitting the personal abuse, either. that's why he is banded.

Anything more about this white fella who went on the rampage last night? Nope, didn’t think so. Main gripe is that the police said he was white, which was most unfortunate.

Andrew Lawrence has had his comedy event at a venue in Liverpool cancelled for a joke he made about this.

Comedians should succeed or fail based on whether they can sell tickets imo, not on whether they can do it by telling only the types of jokes those who arn’t even going to his show approve of.

Don't even think what he said was particularly offensive. Can guarantee that kind of "quip" would have been uttered at offices up and down the country. Not that he's remotely funny like. But if we're cancelling people for telling crap jokes about scousers the game's up.

Took egregious amounts of the public’s cash only to try lecturing them on what damp soysorts they should be.

Lawrence lives and dies by his own art.

Media reports quote a friend of the ex-commando saying he was dropping his wife's friend off in the city when fans surrounded his car, opened the door, and "grabbed his throat", causing him to panic and drive into the crowd

According to his LinkedIn, Doyle served with the marines as a commando in the 1990s before reading Psychology and Maths at the University of Liverpool

He has since worked as a network security consultant, including several years at an NHS Trust, and previously ran multiple businesses, according to company records. He now works in cyber security

Not sure when the friend might have spoken to the accused...

Twitter...

Did his best mate also explain why he tailgated the ambulance?

His arrest for drug driving?

Why he swerved into more people when he could have chosen the gap?

Why he reversed back over people?

Or are we just all going to throw the pity party for the offender?

I expect he's spoken with a solicitor who will, in turn, have spoken to his wife, who..................
He's in custody, not disappeared.

Grounds to acquit already!

Lucky his name is not Ndongo Umbongo of god forbid Mohammed. I wouldn’t want more poor “ good “ mothers going to jail just for “ tweeting “

It’s perfectly evident that this case will, as with all others, come down to intent.

From what I’ve just heard of the charges being brought, they clearly show a distinction between two very different types of action, even the disingenuous WD could see this.

It's amusing to see the concerted effort to humanise him in the last couple of days. He's obviously got good lawyers, who have got good PR.

My big question is what's happened to the drug charge. Cos that, for me, would be the clincher. If this case were in America, I'd probably be backing him getting off due to him arguing he was scared for his life etc but think it'll be trickier here.

My first impression from the videos was that perhaps he panicked as fans were banging on his car and trying to open the door either in high spirits or being angry at a car in the street with people.

There was one video from a higher lever that showed him Veering onto the pavement towards pedestrians, which, could be viewed as deliberate or defended as a loss of control if the car in panic.

It does help that he is white and middle class in his defence as any judge will have more sympathy with him than working class football scum.

Can’t help that he served his country as a Royal Marine either.

People can talk in platitudes about how they superficially believe in something, but to actually commit to serve the country is another level.

Let’s see what side the Daily Mail comes down on so the three word slogan brigade can deliver their verdict after being told what to think.

I would imagine The Sun will defend him as they hate Scousers and and probably take the view that he deserves a pass

I am sure this will be a self defence option for him.

He has of course pleaded not guilty to all charges.

True what happened to the drug driving charge?
