you haven't talked about betting in your last 20,000 posts.
given your "never about betting" post content, I assumed you went skint years ago. well done on your 2016 winner. |

I understood Paddy's last winner was Shirley Heights |

Cleverly now Favourite @ 2.5 !?
I've got a little bit of green on him but he's not a runner I was expecting to get to favourite in this race. |
By:
New polls out yesterday that have him clear of Jenrick in a members h2h. Previously the members' polls had him trailing Jenrick
By:
Cleverly is an outstanding candidate in this field and has been throughout.
Can he get over the line? |
By:
Not played this market as yet, possibly will have a stab when it's a run off. However any poll stating Cleverly beating Jenrick with members is a nonsense. Sounds like that dodgy Corbyn poll tbh. Hopefully that will be the final 2.
By:
The conference was completely irrelevant in my view, the only tangible recent development that has come across my desk is apparently Cleverly quietly initiating the giveaway of British territory when in office. Which, unsurprisingly, I don't feel would be particularly appealing to the ruminants of the Tory faithful. But manipulation of the final 2 between the MPs can't be ruled out, so I won't get involved until it's a proper vote.
By:
At the end of the day, it's Conservative members that decide and they have a very consistent track record of the type of person they will cast their ballot for, and also those they won't.
By:
Let’s hope so Yak
I couldn’t decide if I wanted the loons to vote for Bad Enoch or Lying Corrupt Genrick. Looks like Cleverly is making a run but am hopeful the Blue Rinse will vote for a nutter. |
By:
Cleverley now pretty certain to be in the final two. Tugboat's votes will pretty much all go to him.
I'd be tempted to back BadEnoch now. Tory MP's haven't got rid of her yet and she'll hose up if it goes to the members. |

Tom Tug eliminated
Another casualty tomorrow, could be Jenrick |
By:
If the Tugenhat supporters are smart they won't all switch to Cleverly. Some will switch to Jenrick to assure Badenoch is eliminated.
By:
although think I read somewhere Tugenhat himself wasn't too enamoured with Jenrick over his campaigning
By:
You could well have Jenrick supporters switching to Badenoch

It's a lottery of the most deceitful and untrustworthy. Anything could happen.

By:
.. And that's being kind to them.

By:
Quite curious really, Cleverly was a brexiter but like Baker, sold out for the shilling and trappings of being a minister. Dripping wet nowadays. I'm not having the members buying it, so could get interesting. Like Sunak, the establishment choice.

How popular are the Conservative leadership candidates among the public and 2024 Tory voters?
All Britons Cleverly: 18% favourable / 37% unfavourable Tugendhat: 13% / 26% Badenoch: 13% / 40% Jenrick: 11% / 30% 2024 Tory voters Cleverly: 46% favourable / 20% unfavourable Tugendhat: 35% / 14% Jenrick: 32% / 20% Badenoch: 31% / 30% yougov |

Whereas Jenrick was a remainer, who has since then transitioned across to align his policies more closely with the right wing voting members.
They could well vote him in if he's in the final two, but god knows who the real Jenrick is who ends up leading the party. |
By:
Jenrick resigned his cushy cabinet position on a point of principle. On that alone he's miles ahead of the other runners. It shouldn't actually matter if you agree with the reason he resigned or not. Pretty rare these days, someone jumping off the gravy train out of choice.
By:
Over the Downing Street parties?
Or some other principle, It's a personality contest already |
By:
Yeah, the "point of principle". That's never a self-serving tactic to boost your profile for the next guy and curry favour with sections of the press and members. Thank god we're not all in short pants any more.
By:
It wasn't when he did it.

All those people who said his resignation was a step on the way to his leadership campaign sure look stupid now!

By:
Plenty of people said free gear would be a good pm. Easy to look stupid.

By:
Pretty much anyone who resigns from cabinet could be accused of self promotion. That's politics in a nutshell though, people tend to see what they want to see.

Oppositions don't win elections, governments lose them.
At the rate Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves are p!ssing people off a Conservative and/or reform government in 2029 looks an absolute certainty. |
