A married couple can't have two tax free homes , regardless of whose name they are owned in , or where they live. One of these properties become taxable from the day they marry.

And why can’t it be the husbands house that is due to pay CGT
If she owns one house and sells it why is that house not exempt ?

If you aren't married then each of you can have a tax free home , but when you marry you only get one.

In 1990 a fundamental reform in personal taxes was implemented
Under the new system of independent taxation, all individuals became
responsible for their own tax affairs, and married couples were assessed
for income tax and capital gains tax as separate persons.

The then chancellor , Nigel Lawson , in his 1988 budget speech said
when first announcing its introduction ;
“ the present system takes the income of a married woman as if it belonged
to her husband. Quite simply, that is no longer acceptable “

Rayner's evasion is evidence enough that something dodgy went on.

But whatever went on is nothing compared to the 10s of billions spaffed by Johnson and Truss.

More damning headlines.

Why won't she come clean and explain what is going on ? She has received advice confirming her affairs are in order  - she can remove the heat but chooses to bluff it out.

It makes no sense - she demands transparency in the taxation of others, but chooses to dodge questions regarding her own property deals  -  What does she want to keep hidden ?

Her political career is over if she doesn't come clean - this won't get just forgotten.

Her political career is over if she doesn't come clean

What political career?

Rayner is a rabble rouser, a standard bearer. She is there to deliver traditional Labour voters to Starmer. These voters don't give a fcuk about a few thousand i CGT.

A roll in the Labour party's machinery awaits her after the election.

Either she evaded tax , which is illegal and a matter for the tax authorities police and courts
or she didn’t and allls good . It’s also characteristic of the hypocrisy and evasiveness of the Labour Party including sir Kier
and those who vote Labour generally

Cabinet minister Hazel Blears confirmed she is
to resign, becoming the latest high profile minister
to leave pm Gordon Browns’ struggling Labour government

Blears said she would pay £13,332 in capital gains tax she
had avoided on the sale of a London property
Blears had told tax authorities it was her main residence,
though for parliamentary purposes she had said it was a
second home thus qualifying for expense awards

Johnny still desperate to PROVE she has done something wrong.

Should Chump come clean too?

Why shouldn’t Little Riche ie “ come clean “ and post his last 15 years Tax Returns?

Michelle Mone has had had £29 million of tax payer money deposited into an Off Shore Trust and Johnny wants to have Angela Raynah  investigated when there is no evidence she has done anything wrong. What a waste of Police time and an unnecessary political prosecution for what?

The longer she obfuscates the guiltier she looks.

She has gone well past the point of " It's very complicated. - I made a mistake. How much do I owe ? "

The cover up is now worse than the crime.

Not really Johnny

She promised to show hers if Richie shows his

She has made a fool of most who are questioning her.

Where is the EVIDENCE?

Finger pointing tongue wagging is not EVIDENCE

Meanwhile Michelle Mone and her children have £29 million in Tax Payer money for her and hire CHILDREN in an Offshore Account. Why are you not more vexed about this? Do you have a Political axe to grind?

FACT - She purchased the ex council house in 2007
FACT - She sold the ex council house in 2015
FACT - She made a profit of £48,500
FACT - She got married in 2010.
FACT - She paid no Capital Gains Tax on the £48,500

Between 2010 - 2015 the evidence indicates that  she lived with her family in her husband's property.

Legal opinion on her apparent assertions ,("apparent" - because strangely she won't actually state where she lived during that period),  that she continued to live away from the rest of her family  during the 2010-2015 period.

"No jury would believe her" says top barrister.

Yet more damning headlines emerge today - condemned by her own social media.

She wasn't living where she stated she was.

Time for her to step aside pending a full investigation - irregularities everywhere  - the  electoral register , council tax and capital gains tax payments.

The people have to follow the rules - we expect the same of those in public office.

Question her under police caution.

Let's get to the bottom of this.

The tory fan boys hate her because she didn't go to eaton, even 'SIR'  starmer went to a fee paying school (of course).

Left school at 16 with no qualifications & talks like was bought up on a council estate, but even so she runs rings round the etonians and they're staining their trousers at the thought of more like her and (literally)heaven forbid, a meritocracy running the UK.

You're going to be smearing her with this for a year, this is all the dirt they can find and there's no new dirt every two weeks like boris, rishi, Truss & cameroon et al.

BTW, Cameroon, our Foreign Secretary, Not even an elected MP and hence not answerable to parliament for any decisions he takes to fill his and his mates pockets. Direct rule from Eaton.

But... Look at that common speaking woman, what a growlerCrazy

Radio 4 mentioned this story this morning, gave the moaners side of it and then said (Someone's name I don't know & cant remember) "One of the UK's foremost Tax experts" (again I dunno) has looked at it and quoted "there is no proof of fraud".

https://taxpolicy.org.uk/2024/02/29/rayner/  - he has said no other tax expert has disputed his views.

so she may have a case to answer (for a few grand) and it may or may not be a genuine mistake.

neidle states that where she actually lived isnt relevant so the latest efforts from the mail seem more than a bit ridiculous.
