discounted income is a pretty strategic play imo, as I don't need to realise any capital losses (or gains). yeah may be even cheaper in a few days, so buy some more. this is effectively fiddling on the sidelines, not the big chips

I think Trump should base his long term economic strategy on the day trading of global companies' equities

The China stock markets are casinos; the Hong Kong stock market is a casino; the India stock market is a casino; the Taiwan stock market is a casino; the America stock markets are casinos.

A bit of correction is good for the long term.

These are lifetime inflection moments, very rare, and many people on a gambling forum seem depressed when it should be a time to be buzzing.

Don't forget he's trashed the reputation of America , in three months.

Are companies really going to invest huge sums into the US with him in charge ?  - too much uncertainty - he can change moods on a whim.

So , just to be clear  - do you think what he has done over the last 3 months has been good for America ?
By:

It's irrelevant what I think, though he is implementing the mandate he was elected on.

The key point is that daily fluctuations in equity markets should definitely not determine the long term strategic economic policy of a country.

The Fed could half base rates today and the stock markets would take off with double digit gains. They are definitely not the barometer on what is the right thing to do.

It's absolutely laughable that you actually think they are

You think that a 10% self induced crash  is a "daily fluctuation".

The  reputation of America has been shredded , their economy is worth  significantly less , and the American people are poorer.

And you believe he was elected to do this ?  - now that is  laughable.

Forget all that though  - " He's making America great again".

their economy is worth significantly less

What is it worth now, and what is your benchmark, ie 'significantly less' compared to what?

I think we have to say Americans should be happy. They get the great reset that was promised under Harris but just with the extra racism and misogyny promised by Trump. Something for everyone. Sunday, Monday, Happy Days!

A bit of correction is good for the long term.

it's not a correction - it's valuing companies based on the tariffs policy not fundamentals

A reduction of forward earnings on an individual equity basis. Where do those earnings come from ?
By:
Johnny The Guesser
When: 07 Apr 25 13:37
He's reduced the expected forward earnings across the whole of the American economy.

Tremendous deal Donald - the American people must be really pleased.

House of cards predicated on debt and printed money. Not just the US, btw.

Anyway, doesn't really matter that you don't get it. You (or I) can only influence and control what we do ourselves, not any government.
