After the war we still maintained an effective army. That didn't come cheap.
By:
so did France!
imagine how much they spent in Vietnam and Algeria |
By:
A French army after the WW2
Where did that come from? |

Working class people in Britain have never done particularly well considering we're supposed to be a rich country.
They're better off in Europe than we are. That's the failure of the Labour party who had a golden opportunity for major change under Blair, but decided instead to build a low wage economy providing money for higher benefits. Workers will never get anything meaningful out of the Tories either, but at least the Tories provide some stability. |

The EU nationals and South Asians keep on coming. Bizarre if Brexit is bad for the UK.

UK better than India or Bulgaria
pretty low bar you're setting there to be honest |

High levels of immigration is government policy.

![]() Some begging going on by Johnson behind the scene |
By:
That’s gibberish
By:
Change of tune - since he was ripped apart behind the scenes in Cornwall by both EU and US.
Still big talk at home to their own media, cap in hand in the real world, "please please give us some time to figure out what we signed up for". Bunch of incompetent t0ssers who are a evoke a combination of international laughter and pity. |

Big NI Protocol benefit
NI dairy co-op Dale Farm has signed a deal to provide Danish dairy giant Arla with with whey protein concentrate, which will be used as an ingredient in infant formula and consumer health ingredients. Raw milk normally goes to Ireland to be processed. It means that this arrangement can continue unhindered. Protocol stays deal stays Protocol goes deal goes |
By:
when you say 'NI Protocol benefit' it seems an awful lot like a benefit to being in the single market?
Boris Johnson agrees wholeheartedly (well, he did before his oven ready bullsh1t campaign). |
By:
It is a single market benefit.
Johnson is now espousing the benefits of a trade deal with Australia allowing freedom of movement between the countries. You almost couldn't make it up. |
By:
edwin poots says he,s been told personally by johnson off the record that they,ll be big changes to protocol announced in early july,
breath taking /staggering that man who doesnt believe in dinosaurs believes what johnson tells him ![]() ![]() |
By:
I saw that.
Isn't it odd when the vaccine rollout is mentioned they could talk all day about it,what a great job etc(fair play to that to some extent) but not a mention with Brexit,a dirty, taboo subject it seems. 5 years next week to the referendum and it should in theory have been a trumiphant day of National sucess, how will it be spun? |
By:
Maybe issue another 50p

If like many of us after 40 years, you believed the UK was totally screwed and bogged down in the huge undemocratic bureaucratic mess of a France/Germany carve called the EU ,even confirmed Europhiles like Cameron had had enough...........how did you expect this chronic f'up to be solved in 6 months ,especially in a world wide pandemic ,of course it was a long term project and any reasonable person would have known that ,just be grateful we survived the lorry queues ,certain starvation ,medicine shortages and the housing market collapse ,which the same critics also predicted.
By:
true 16 but how do we expect it to be solved?
Eu has big problems too! |
By:
its the 2nd in command of ERG david jones who,s in papers today demanding the protocol and trade deal be ripped up and renegotiated not remainers
By:
Johnson didn't seem too bothered with covid costs last year when he said it "was a great deal" and "everyone will prosper mightily".
No need to tear the protocol up,Ireland North and South isrocking trade wise,a great thing for them and any attempt to change that must be stopped |

Wow!! David Frost says govt had not realised it would be more difficult to negotiate with EU as “a third party”
After all those warnings that UK would throw away its best card by getting out without sorting out future terms….ending in current debacle What a mea culpa #Brexit |
By:
You leave , and then of course any future trade talks take place from that point onwards
The EU are a third party |
By:
Can take 10 years
By:
that's a long time without trade deals
By:
We have a trade deal
By:
it's not a very good one is it
By:
What would you change ?
By:
are you happy with the NI protocol?
By:
and the fishing?
By:
The protocol is fine as it is operating now , of course the EU seem unhappy about something
fishing is better than it was and will be better within the next 5 years or so So as I said we have a trade deal which we can get on with now And discuss any changes later |
By:
Irish fishing boots are no longer allowed in strangford Lough
That’s good |
By:
They'll get wet feet!

By:
Don’t expect the U.K. to do any more negotiations for the foreseeable
It’s up to the EU to fulfill their duties and abide by the agreements signed |

Here’s what it says in that piece of gibberish posted by top notch
All stakeholders were expected to use this time effectively to adapt supply chains for chilled meats sold in NI There you go |
By:
Now that means they will be sold and all stakeholders including the EU will have to adapt
Sorry if they don’t understand their own words |
