Nice shadow cabinet box ticking appointment by Starmer - will go down well with one group.

. A very interesting possible candidate for Labour. |

By:
Good move....sympathy vote worth at least 10%, and if you can get somebody to run over her dog on the eve of the election, reckon u might squeeze another 3%

is their a large southern asian for want of a better term population in batley, there isnt in h,pool for example

is their a large southern asian for want of a better term population in batley, there isnt in h,pool for example .................................. They still use the historic 2011 figure of 30% when it is mentioned. We'll know the true number quite soon when the census result is out. |
By:
Labour price contracting noticeably since last night. A lot of money being piled on both bookies and exchanges for this early in a by election.
By:
Tory price on the drift, not sure if there is a clear reason but a very volatile market.
By:
thats whats strange about h,pool ,that people who dont no it, cant understand
massive brexit vote ukip on ground yrs before reff immigrstion num,ber one topic but if someone from down south,.big cities, northern mill towns etc were to come in to h,pool for the day they,d say immigration what foooking immigrsation |
By:
60% leave for this constituency. A fairly high number but not insurmountable.
By:
It's not just brexit, people will wise up to that at some point. There's no shame in voting Tory any more, no tribal commitment to Labour. Arguably in some communities the shame would be voting Labour and the kneeler.
It's a slightly trickier b/e to call then Hartlepool I feel. Labour and their msm chums will be chucking everything they have at it. 21st June will have an impact as well, which at this point is an unknown variable. |
By:
starmer made the promotion to make labour look more favourable to one part of the electorate. It is so cynical and they think locals won't notice it. This is where within Labour we get so many things wrong in this particular topic. Many have said how we concentrate on minorities instead of the majority
and take so much notice of the noisy twitterfacesnap self entitled attention seekers. |
By:
In the last 24 hours Hills have cut the Labour price from 4.0 to 3.5 to 3.25 to 3.0 and now to 2.75. They must be taking a lot of money in.

By:
Rose trying to get his money back?

By:
Could be. If so Labour will be 1.1 at the finish up

if jo coxes sister stands for labour as been suggested bound to have a dramatic effect on betting
if nothing else would stop the usual tory dirty tactics ,playing the man not the ball |
By:
Labour have tried to gain political capital out of the Cox murder for a number of years. So it would be of no great surprise.

2.62 Labour now with Hills. They are going to end up favourite at this rate.
By:
A lot of money for Labour this morning again, Ladbrokes have cut them to 2.37.
By:
Can't have it personally. Jo Cox's sister is merely going to remind people of Brexit and attach Labour to Remain. Nice and easy attack line. Given the tories look like having no right wing opposition I think they're a shoe in here.
By:
Well, Hartlepool was erm unique and that's being fairly kind to it in a political sense. This seat looks much tougher for the tories to win. Just to be clear, I am not saying they will not win it, only that the task they are facing is completely different from Hartlepool.
By:
remind people of brexit absolutely spot on
remind them that brexit party, arron banks ordered his troop out on the streets saw joe coxes death in his words as an opportunity to win votes as main parties stood aside for a few day,s, after she was shot buy a far right union jack waving nut job i think the tory,s might put this in the to difficult tray, not as if their desperate for numbers in commons |
By:
Many will say that it is in the tories best interests for them to be a narrow Labour hold in order to keep Kier Starmer in post.
By:
As if the blue wave needs reminding of brexit lol. Some of you really do live in cloud cuckoo land.
You're going to get the 1st timer types shouting 'far right far right' like demented idiots, thinking somehow this will put people off voting Tory ![]() |
By:
If the Tories want to win Batley, the jeopardy lays around covid.
By:
people might not be bothered ,but the trial showed the bloke in question was a far right nut job, END OF
By:
What on earth has that got to do with anyone else. Plenty of people do plenty of bad things. It's just a transparent attempt by you and others to confect his actions with anyone who votes the way you don't approve of.
By:
to quote the recent leader of the party you all seem happy to vote for
where have all the far right, loonies and fruit cakes gone, what party are they in ,who are they voting for there not voting for ukip, reform ,bnp, they havnt gone away still out there voting for joining some party, wonder which one |

Sorry but my irony meter just blew up! |

By:
I have always said 20,000 will swing it - do that in 300 constituencies and you are there
By:
no 1st time he was ill - like so many of the explosive type?
By:
I don't object to anyone voting for any party they want to. I can definitely challenge their justification for doing so, that's debate.
1st timer at the top of the thread posted: theyve got some ukippers with some strange cultish name with far right ideas who got 1000,s of votes last time I asked him to tell us what these far right ideas were, and we're still waiting, several days later. |
By:
Some big swings on the Betfair exchange market.
Labour lowest/highest price matched 2.32/4.7 Tory lowest/highest price matched 1.05/1.73 |
By:
The prices for the last few days seem to be very static. Not sure when Labour are announcing their candidate but if it is one of the persons mentioned up thread, their price is very likely to shorten.

Those expecting a sympathy vote for Cox's sister might be in for a disappointment. She leads a campaign called Moreincommon, no one in Batley, or similar towns, believes that, the division has been there for decades and is getting worse.
By:
Dearie me, thanks for that.
By:
I know the area well, people are beginning to say 'enough'.
