won just over $9000 in 2009, made just over $8000 in 2010 though played a lot less. deffo think stts/mtts are getting tougher, there's very little post flop play, and bf is deffo loaded with overly aggressive players happy to go all in pre.
like doobs im thinking of quitting because im bored with it, and sick of the hours you put in for very little reward. the alternative is to play cash, but i dont really think i'm good enough. good luck to all forumites in whatever you do in 2011. im just about to go out and set some fireworks off in the garden for the kids. big game at home vs oldham tomorrow, first home league game for 6 weeks. hopefully 3 points and into the play-off positions. |

Stop the press, news just coming in.......
Some forumites might have noticed a very rare occurence over the holiday period. Astronomers have been heard to say that the recent lunar eclipse has had no influence whatsoever. On the other hand astrologers have said that the recent lunar eclipse does indeed produce the strangest of effects in some psychic people. Scientists the world over are completely baffled and can find no rational explanation why the normally prattish Beriteonce has suddenly written something sensible. Opinion is divided, Stephen hawking was jubilant and seems to think that this might be conclusive proof of the many worlds theory. ''Somewhere, in another dimension the sweet cuddly Beriteonce that we all know and love is trapped and we are stuck with this doppelganger''. Psychologists are also unsure of the reasoning behind Beriteonce's unusual behavior. Freud thinks that Berit was severely abused as a child and this apparent normal post is a cry for forgiveness for previous transgressions on the forum. Karl Young has taken the opposite view '' ....at this time of year a group conciousness can take over, even the most cold hearted can succumb'' he was heard to say. This journalist takes a more prosaic viewpoint, it won't be long before the prat will be back. |

"I probably won't play that much in December, but please let me run good when I do."
I bet you have played every night and day this month, LOL you sad degenerative gambling fat losing joke. How about not gambling, getting a decent job so you don't have to gamble and maybe telling any family or friends (although this is very unlikely)about your habit and how much money you are losing? Please take note as I honestly am trying to help sad people like urself. GLAD I COULD HELP! now get on with getting a job and making your mum and dad proud, make getting out of your bedroom your biggest aim for this year. GOODLUCK! |
By:
creidhne i HOPE you do something more constuctive/useful with your undoubted intelligence than gambling for a living trying to make 1 to 2000 a month (peanuts) as stated by yourself on another thread.i FEAR that you wont.

There's no reason to be scared Beritonce, although I am a bit confused why you bother posting. If you have no interest in the poker ''hobby''.
Your usual posts are usually aimed at bellitling the poker forumites. Most of whom play for fun and to improve their play. It seems a strange hobby; if you really believe that us forumites are low level losers then you have a strange psychological imperitive to bully people less well off than yourself. Not a very good psychological state to be in. Still it could be worse, you could be Cheezer, then I really would think you had problems. |

I hope 2011 is a great year for all forumites (including cheezer and beriteonce - loosen up guys) and that my team continues to dominate Scottish football despite the lack of funds. My new year resolutions are to play less poker, exercise more and count to ten before responding to a cheezer or beriteonce post. Happy New Year. Good Luck. Scotland Forever. |

Odd that a stalker is unaware that the person he is stalking does have a job.

Doobs. Thanks for sharing your monthly MTT thoughts and results. It gave us low level regulars an idea of what the pros and cons are of moving up.
For me 2010 was best cash wise +£5k but spent mose of it chasing Poker Player magazine leaderboards in first part of year. The Betfair switch took a while to get used to. For 2011 I will: Play less, but enjoy it more. Not moan concerning leaderboard and other promotions. Embrace MTT variance but also play a bit of cash and STTs. Try a few satellites for higher buy in (for me) on-line MTTs. Do some work analysing my game. Take a lot more weekends off to do something else. Play a live MTT. Be constructive rather than critical in forum posts. Be happy with any profit or loss at end of 2011. Though my target is +£4k (playing less/enjoying poker more). |

Improve my cash game which is like a rollercoaster at the moment.
In MTT's to be more aggressive mid game and to stop cashing out after hours for 25 dollars!! To try and qualify for the Betfair live tourneys as their hospitality is excellent if Glasgow is anything o go by. To post more on the forum and meet some of the regulars on here. To occasionally win with AA pre flop all in lol!!! Happy and profitable New year all!! |
By:
Went to Betfair Live Prague in 2010 and would like to go to more live tournies in 2011.
Other than that, just turn enough profit to pay for holidays and a few goodies for the family. Happy New Year and good luck to all the forumites. |

Thinly veiled brag but I qualified for Betfair London Live last night. That's one off my list already. I have my eyes set on the Boyle IPO as well.

Ok, these posts tend to be the kiss of death for me but here goes.
My immediate hope is to somehow break out of this losing run. My entire betting life, including poker seems to have been characterised by a few spectacular highs and a lot of depressing lows. Last year was my best ever at poker profit wise, but after the last couple of months it doesn't feel like that. Since the move to ongame my figures look like this: Sept: £+1957.05 Oct: £+2790.69 Nov: £-4638.43 Dec: £-2241.34 These figures are before cake, bonuses etc, (are nearly all mtt related) and at the end of 2010 on ongame I was about £-170. In November I lost sight of my bankroll management in the mtt leader board fiasco, but even playing $10-$20 tournaments on here the money soon goes. On the old BF if I lost £200 in a night that was a real bad one, now on here because of the massive mtt fields it seems to be a regular occurrence. At the moment I just can't afford to - want to - throw much more money at poker. As far as mtts go, I feel I don't know where I am at the game. I can't work out whether there are more donks or better players, I raise on or near the button and it seems someone's always sitting on a monster in the bb. Constant bad beats and set ups which we all know about, that just go on and on and on and on.............. I have dropped down to micro stake cash and $5 stts just to try and get the winning feeling again, but even that is hard! I've never been any good at stts, but I've been forced to look at them to try and somehow stem the variance of mtts. I've been reading articles, taking note of what some of the forum stt boys say and at the moment am trying to get my sharkscope sng figure to $+200 (yep!) - then I might have a go at the $10 ones. Dropping right down stakes, varying my game ie cash and sngs, has brought the enjoyment back into the poker for me. Now the possible good news. At this moment on ongame, I am about £-280 but I have 2*$525, 1*$200, 1*$162, 1*$108 and 2*$54 tickets to use. I say "possible" good news because I could do with a decent cash in at least one or more of them, but at least they are all paid for and I've got nothing to lose. On a personal note, I should think 2011 will be even more difficult than the poker. The consultants have decided that they are not going to do anything about the tumours growing on my Dad's lungs. They figure because of his age, 86 in February, and the fact that he had radiotherapy last year, his body won't be able to take any more treatment. So, things are going to get progressively more difficult for him and me as his (unpaid) carer, trying to keep one eye on him and one eye on my business. My business is seasonal and by the end of last season I felt run down and exhausted with it all. Need to try and arrange things better this year. Will probably need to call on friends more than ever. Don't feel nowhere as down and depressed as I did this time last year though. Good luck luck to all fellow forumites with their hopes and ambitions in 2011, and may your fears not be realised. (rockme) |

Good Luck to you both...

Thank you Leopard.

Sorry to hear about your dad's illness. I hope the poker profits roll in for you in 2011. STT's low level play - unless you know the player well, fold fold fold unless you have a real good 'un early doors. Don't start to get funky until 5 left, and then pick the serial raisers and betters on the flop, check raise them to hell.

GL MCcoy, hope 2011 goes as well for you and your dad as is possible. Been through it with my dad and I know how draining trying to keep life together whilst basing it around the needs of your loved one is.
