Quick update,
9 days ago finished 7th in the 50 rebuy here. I was joking with Keith A that I was likely to get "the call" while at the final table. Fortunately I didn't make the heads up, as I had to drive home less than an hour after I got knocked out. I am now officially a father for the second time. Given the circumstances, there must be a pretty strong likelihood that I am going to finish the year around -£3k, to book the first annual loss since online poker year 1. I was playing really well the last few months, but the -£15k start to the year and variance have probably got the better of me. |

Congratulations mate. I myself am on a five month losing run - my worst previous run is 6 - and in that period am losing about £2250. That's just online, if I include my Costa Brava trip then I am probably at best evens on the year, so unless something drastic happens this month, and I am on holiday for a week & all the Xmas shenanigan's, then this will be my worst ever year since I started playing online & keeping records. Not only do I run bad, but I keep getting this feeling that I am being outplayed and getting those critical all in decisions wrong, folding when I should of called & calling when I should of folded, etc. On a plus point I haven't wasted a penny on the horses since my Dad died and just use my BF account for poker now.

Had enough of this. In the $250k, short stacked shove it all in with AA, get 2 callers, QQ & QT. The other Q comes on the flop. Going really well in GSOP final. All in with KK v AK. First card ace.
$520 down the pan. Have noticed when you are running bad, there are always loads of aces about. Just cannot seem to win those crucial go all in's - even when I'm well ahead. At my wits end as to what to do with poker. It just comes down to getting lucky on those flips and I'm convinced some players are more luckier than others - even over a long period. |

Plans for 2011
Play a bit less. I'll probably kick regular play in the bigger buy in events in to touch this year. Specifically this is the stars 100 rebuy. The standard is too high and the variance too big. I gto a first and second earlier this year/late last year, but since then it has been a four figure drain each month. I am sure I will have the odd pop at it, but nothing like as often as this year. I am well and truly owed a good run in the highroller on bf, so will continue that for now. I have booked Vegas for the 2nd week in June. I thought I'd give a couple of smaller events a go this year. The schedule isn't out yet, but will probably be looking for the $1500 plo8, $1500 PL Hold em or a $1000/$1500 hold em event. If nothing suits then I am hoping the venetian deepstack is going when I am there. Playing the smaller events must cut the variance down and I am not going to find myself playing for 3 days to miss the cash again. GUKPT. probably London March, Walsall April, Luton August, Coventry October. I may even try the qualifying route to cut the varaince down. Dunno if I'll bother with the st ars one. I may try and play a WSOPE event this year, but it depends on work. Alternatively I must try and have some cash in my st ars account by september to have a pop at the EPT london sats. Overall make £20K. That is less than half my average for 2007 to 2009, but approximately £20k more than I made in 2010. GL me and GL anyone who joins the thread. I will try and put monthly updates up, and signifciant wins/swings. Well I managed to play less. Just had the first session in a good while and missed everything. Overall for the year probably -£5k+ Highlights for the year Winning the st ars $100 6pm job Eventually managing a decent cash in the highroller on bf (2nd) Cashing a WSOP event. Coming back from -£15k and definitely playing well towards the end of the year Lowlights Losing Variance Playing badly in the first half of the year |
