This may be my last ever update thread. There won't be any monthly ones next year, as I am posting it all here.
Last year I won the stars 100 rebuy, but pretty sure I missed everything else on my target list.
It is entirely possible that I may just quit at some time this year. I can't see much fun in playing for nothing and experiencing £15k swings. It is rubbish.
Plans for 2011
Play a bit less.
I'll probably kick regular play in the bigger buy in events in to touch this year. Specifically this is the stars 100 rebuy. The standard is too high and the variance too big. I gto a first and second earlier this year/late last year, but since then it has been a four figure drain each month. I am sure I will have the odd pop at it, but nothing like as often as this year. I am well and truly owed a good run in the highroller on bf, so will continue that for now.
I have booked Vegas for the 2nd week in June. I thought I'd give a couple of smaller events a go this year. The schedule isn't out yet, but will probably be looking for the $1500 plo8, $1500 PL Hold em or a $1000/$1500 hold em event. If nothing suits then I am hoping the venetian deepstack is going when I am there. Playing the smaller events must cut the variance down and I am not going to find myself playing for 3 days to miss the cash again.
GUKPT. probably London March, Walsall April, Luton August, Coventry October. I may even try the qualifying route to cut the varaince down.
Dunno if I'll bother with the st ars one.
I may try and play a WSOPE event this year, but it depends on work. Alternatively I must try and have some cash in my st ars account by september to have a pop at the EPT london sats.
Overall make £20K.
That is less than half my average for 2007 to 2009, but approximately £20k more than I made in 2010.
GL me and GL anyone who joins the thread.
I will try and put monthly updates up, and signifciant wins/swings.
Can't see me beating that in a while when only playing once or twice a week.
These are looking way better than normal here too
MTT Avg. Finish% Early 4% (10%) EM 20% (20%) Mid. 39% (40%) ML 22% (20%) Late 14% (10%)
Hope the tags work and that looks half decent. I am pretty confident I am playing better, though guess it could be variance (only 145 tourneys in total) or black friday related? Those numbers are probably in line with the good old days.
Though these are moorman1's so it can't all be black Friday related
MTT Avg. Finish% Early 7% (10%) EM 19% (20%) Mid. 42% (40%) ML 21% (20%) Late 11% (10%)
I guess I'll be able to say in another 3 months if it was just variance.

I wouldn't take any notice of OPR - it's rubbish. And Sharkscope too. Since BF joined Ongame I am a losing player yet OPR has me showing a profit of $6024, Sharkscope $5794 for scheduled tournaments. Sngs sharkscope shows me $+674. I have lost £240 at cash in this time. So, as I say, both Sharkscope and OPR way out. Where they get these figures is beyond me.

OPR seems to work pretty well on st ars. It underestimates the average number of rebuys for me(I rarely walk away before the end of the rebuy period, some do, and some play it as a freezeout). I think the overall picture is about right. I don't look at sharkscope much now, but I guess that is also likely to underestimate the rebuys for me. Sharkscope always seemed to miss my big STT wins back in the day when I played them. It used to be pretty tilting at the time. It also has me down on betfair MTTs since ongame, which is pretty accurate, though entirely due to that &*%^! highroller.

To be fair it seems pretty accurate for me for 2011, it's just way out for November and December of last year, when I had the worst two months I've ever had, £-4600 and £-2200. I must of gone mad on the rebuys.

OPR looks OK to me on Ongame/Betfair. Underestimates my rebuy profile but does explain why and how that is averaged. It does not seem to cope with the sats wins into tourneys and records those as losses when my own records show good ROIs. Useful to look at months and all the details. Pretty sure that June/July upswings have got me more than back on my average. I think I know why too - took some real hits and suckouts on some of these final tables and got my Betfair poker roll to and all time high and given me a nice excuse to take some cash out. Think I'm improving in various tourneys. Will review poker holdings in various sites like all good risk management practices say you should. Fortunately only had 0.13c on FT

run bad on ongame for an awful long time. Just busted 48th in 50r, pays 40, I lost a couple of races but had spiked with Kx vs TT. 40th would have been nice.
I managed one cash on st ars, 10th just before FT, AQs vs AK off button vs SB passed around to me so always going in pre. Was flying really high in the 100r turbo, but couldn't survive a 65/35 for the chip lead and left with shrapnel.
I have had to start reloading on betfair for the first time in an absolute age too

I played $10/$20 for the first time in many months on what looked a fishy table. I managed to get my $1000 in with JJ vs KK all in pre, spiked a jack and decided I had used up my luck and left. To compensate for this, I played the 50 rebuy here yesterday. In the rebuy period I think I ran top pair top kicker or overpair in to a set 3 times and then KK in to AA. Managed to hit another set with my overpair after the rebuy had ended. I did about $500 without getting a sniff of the money. Guess I had it coming after the JJ vs KK, so no complaints.
I have just done my accounts. No real idea on how much I made at cash at DTD on Saturday. Guessed at £80, may have been +/-£100 from here.
Year to date -£4200 + 1 GUKPT main event ticket vs -£15K at low point. Now 3 winning months in 7 Recent 120 day stats still looking very good on OPR, so must be playing well

Just had a quick bash at 10/10 Omaha. Flopped top set vs wrap vs nut flush draw. Couldn't avoid all the outs and didn't reload.
I am playing the noon flight at GUKPT Luton on Friday. I am playing well so a level 1 exit seems inevitable.

Absolute last hand of the day, it is passed around to me in SB, I look down to see KhKx. I raise, Paul Zimbler calls from the BB.
Flop 876hh
I bet, he raises, I have him well covered and shove, he snaps with 76 off.
Turn 9, river K.
I run good in a GUKPT at last.

First level today a bit rubbish. Dropped about 10k.
Second level was fine until I got jacks.
I raised, got two called, flop was 965. Bet, one caller. Turn 8, I checked, he bet small I called, river 8. I checked, he bet small I called. He had 97. Probably cost me 25-30K
Very next hand, I got jecks, I raised, low flop and I win
Very next hand I get aces. I raise, BB calls. Flop came T82. I c bet, he shoves 30k or so, I insta call. Him T9, turn 9.
I was then down to 18k when I shoved Qs just befoe the first break. It was called by kings. Hit a Q on the turn to avoid the ignominy of going 90k to zero in 2 levels. Hit break with 38k.
Drifted downwards over the next level, before this exit hand in around 40th. Bubbled the £1000 bonus for highest place online qualifier too
He had exactly 100 more than me, but it was only around 19K he shoved for and not as reported. That 9 was the turn, I say no, been here too many times to not realise what was coming. River was the 8. He whooped an hollered.
Another £1k tourney goes without a cash.

One down, one to go. Lost my dog - the one in the photo. Passed away this morning. Had an incurable lung disease and hadn't been well. Distraught. Dad seriously ill. Cancer really beginning to bite now. Bag of bones. Life's not been much fun of late. (rockme)

Thinking of you rockme. Thought I was going to lose my Dad a few years ago, but he made it through.
On the poker front, I am actually a few quid under for the year, though as near to break even as makes no difference.
Tonight, cashed in one on st ars already. 187/256 in 50r on st ars. 6/76 in my new favourite highroller tournament. Funny how things change. Just had JJ vs AA, jack high flop, wasn't all in pre either!

After extolling the virtues of the highroller I got aces busted by A4 soooted. Kind of crippled and folded to a min cash.
And got donked twice by the same brazillian to get little over than a min cash on st ars
Probably not far from flat tonight.
As an aside the highroller seems to be way more popular than it used to be, dunno if this is part of the fallout from the exit of full tilt and absolute. 153 runners tonight yet it was strugling for its guarantee a few months ago.

Played my first sunday in ages. Was flying in a couple on stars but ran pretty nasty just before the cashes in both, and just min cashed the 100k 1r1a here. Also was the victim of a comedy call in one where I did half my average stack. Fell raises, I reraise with aces, fella in BB shoves for a little more, I have to call as I have aces. He has T6 off and flops both. Guess it must have been a misclick.
Backed Dream Ahead yesterday and obviously ran good there.
Probably going to have a week off now. Can't see my playing many 24 hour WCOOPs starting at midday on a weekday.
Probably back close to break even for the year

lol at the week off in the last post. Ended up playing more than usual and running horribly. This run was capped by playing the 200 rebuy omaha on st ars tonight. The first bullet went with top set vs just a king high flush draw in a 10k pot all in on the flop when blinds were 10/20. Second went not lon after vs only an ace high flush draw all in on a flop. Even though it is a turbo, there is really no reason to get 250 BBs in on a **** flush draw. Still only lost $400 rather than the full 600.
But just won the $100 turbo on bf for $4.5k, and won a GUKPT seat, so probably better than break even for the week. There probably isn't much in it as a lot of the tourneys have been pricey ones on st ars
FWIW The GUKPT sats on blue sq/g casino are v good value. The one I played was £250 in with 10 entrants and 4 £1000 seats guaranteed. In addition if you are the last surviving online qualifier in the main event you get £1000 worth of future entries. I doubt I'll be playing anymore simply because I can't play blackpool.

I must thank you, Dooberama, for something that could have caused me grief, but for you.
I have just started playing mtts after two years of mainly cash and sngs and after some good cashes I thought I would look up my results on sharkscope. For the first couple of minutes I was in paradise as my results were fantastic, then I remembered you saying that they do not have the exact number of rebuys and addons and just give an average figure Is there a site that does give you your exact stats for mtt rebuys?

With my sporting bets it is easy to find out how much I have won or lost on football, horseracing, specials etc for the last three months, but there is not that facility for poker, or is there?

No, it is a headache and in my experience Sharkscope and OPR are very inaccurate. I got a p/l account from Betfair for my poker since they joined Ongame and that didn't tally with my own manually kept records either.

In the old days you could work out much easier which tournament, cash table you played, so I could tell what I had lost at $1/$2 omaha and what I had lost in the $100 turbo. Hence I had a good idea where I was winning and where I was losing.
Now I pretty much lump all cash together amd all MTTs together. That way I know how much I have won/lost overall at tourneys and cash but not much else. If you subscribe to sharkscope you can have a good guess at how much you have won/lost in turbos, standard tourneys, $50 tourneys etc. They are always going to miss results though, and I am always conscious it is likely to undetestimate rebuys. Some players in these tourneys only ever play them like freezeouts, some have limited bullets etc. Also I don't do massive amounts of sports betting anymore, so ignoring it is easy for me.
FWIW St ars is worse, I just look at how much I have in there in dollars every so often. Trying to break it down by the day would mean daily record keeping, and I cant be rsed.
As an update I am up from the year if I assume my gukpt entry is worth £1k, and down if I assume it is zero. Still way better than the 15k I was down at one point.
Happy gambling.

No one has ever said why the "poker room only" tab in the account statement section of "my account" has never been upgraded or doesn't work. I'm not to worried about breaking down my poker results because I don't play much cash and can get a good idea of where I stand on sngs with sharkscope. I just want an easy way of separating my sports betting from my poker betting and the only way I can see of doing this at the moment is to have 2 accounts - and that can't be good for your overall BF points tally. Any chance of a reply on this BF Poker Manager?

I don't like putting the stars name in the thread.
I was up in the top 1000 on stars for a time on OPR for 2011, but have slipped back. I haven't run good this month there. I keep getting to the last 20 or 30% in their WCOOPs and then go out. I have probably blown a couple but most have just been kind of forced.
I managed a 3rd in the 9pm $15k on betfair. I did have half the chips 6 or 7 handed then ran uber bad from then on.
I am probably back down for the year as the WCOOPs and the others on stars are frequently pricey. If I hadn't lost flips/run bad in a couple of spots I could easily have been +£10k now. I haven't done the maths, but am roughly -£1.5k without the GUKPT entry and -£500 including it.
I might go easy this week to ensure a decent break before the GSOP starts.
I am sure I am playing better than the first 4 months or so of the year so not going to get too down about it.

That highroller will probably finish around the same time as the GSOP. May as well have played both.
I am not playing anything tonight, as I can't do 2 3.30am finishes in a row. I am going to get an early one then go for the plo8 tomorrow. Hopefully the donk content wil be high and they'll all miss their set of 9s.
WCOOP was a bit of a disaster, I think I only cashed in one and the entries are pricey. Despite that I managed to finish up for the month.
Hopefully GSOP will be a lot better, played 1, finished 5th once.
Overall for the year is now a proper profit +£2.2K + one outstanding GUKPT entry. I am also going to be profitable for 5 months and down in 4. That is the first time this year the profitable months have been ahead of the losing ones.

Played the betfair invitational in Nottingham at the weekend. Cashed 2nd for £1400 and got two $120 tourney entries for bounties. Ran pretty golden to get to the final table to be honest.
Still running bad on st ars and good on betfair.
Currently 15/73 in GSOP 11. Have been alternating between great plays and terrible ones so far.

Have ran bad since last update. Now back to -£1k for the year excluding Friday's GUKPT entry and two $120 betfair sat entries.
Probably a good thing ongame has broken tonight in the circumstances, but was hoping to play my way back in to form and I have reached my monthly limit on st ars - loved the WCOOP :(
Am due a run good again, and very much due one in a £1k event. Hopefully the field will be softer than usual due to the WSOPE clash.

Played like a spanner for a couple of hours and lost half my chips.
Then made a hero call with third pair for all my chips (It was good).
I then started to play much better, but still did half my chips again with 2 nut flush draws that both missed including one with AdKd where the board was QdJdxy.
Finally get the last 7000 in with AK vs AQs. Both missed flop, Q turn. &*%^£$ 30+ game £1k+ buy in no cash streak continues.

Just to let you know my Dad passed away Friday night on what would of been my Mums birthday. People on here were very supportive earlier in the thread when I told them of his cancer.
I'm ok, was a big relief in the end. Expect it'll hit me sooner or later. (rockme)

Just won the sta rs $100 PLO8. I am probably break even at best tonight, but that ends a long shocking run on st ars. Got late in 3 tourneys recently only for AK vs AA, AQ vs AA and QQ vs KK to smash me up.
Ran bad on betfair, but that made a nice change.

Missing the big cash though... currently 1/29 in st ars 50r. Barring 2nd am at least double all the other stacks. $10.5k up top go go go

Just split the plo8 on st ars heads up. In the last 5 or 6 times I have played, I have now got 1st, 3rd, 4th and joint 1st. I really should just play that.
Yearly total now just shy of -£3k

9 days ago finished 7th in the 50 rebuy here. I was joking with Keith A that I was likely to get "the call" while at the final table. Fortunately I didn't make the heads up, as I had to drive home less than an hour after I got knocked out.
I am now officially a father for the second time.
Given the circumstances, there must be a pretty strong likelihood that I am going to finish the year around -£3k, to book the first annual loss since online poker year 1. I was playing really well the last few months, but the -£15k start to the year and variance have probably got the better of me.

Congratulations mate. I myself am on a five month losing run - my worst previous run is 6 - and in that period am losing about £2250. That's just online, if I include my Costa Brava trip then I am probably at best evens on the year, so unless something drastic happens this month, and I am on holiday for a week & all the Xmas shenanigan's, then this will be my worst ever year since I started playing online & keeping records. Not only do I run bad, but I keep getting this feeling that I am being outplayed and getting those critical all in decisions wrong, folding when I should of called & calling when I should of folded, etc. On a plus point I haven't wasted a penny on the horses since my Dad died and just use my BF account for poker now.

Had enough of this. In the $250k, short stacked shove it all in with AA, get 2 callers, QQ & QT. The other Q comes on the flop. Going really well in GSOP final. All in with KK v AK. First card ace.
$520 down the pan.
Have noticed when you are running bad, there are always loads of aces about.
Just cannot seem to win those crucial go all in's - even when I'm well ahead.
At my wits end as to what to do with poker. It just comes down to getting lucky on those flips and I'm convinced some players are more luckier than others - even over a long period.

Well I managed to play less. Just had the first session in a good while and missed everything.
Overall for the year probably -£5k+
Highlights for the year
Winning the st ars $100 6pm job Eventually managing a decent cash in the highroller on bf (2nd) Cashing a WSOP event. Coming back from -£15k and definitely playing well towards the end of the year
Lowlights
Losing Variance Playing badly in the first half of the year
