Running profit for May 20 points - profit for April was 22.5 points
Sometimes you just have one of those days and yesterday was one of those. The Cheka would have won in another five yards, Tawaasul was aweful and Star Commander was always going to win after I rejected it in favour of Knightly Escapade (don't give up on this one). A loss of five points on the day - ouch. Perhaps I was a bit gung - ho and I am more cautious today as I don't want to lose more hard earned profit just to have a bet!
2.00 York - Izzi Top 1 pt win
I thought this one would be slightly shorter than the current 3/1 as it handles the ground , is fit and in form. The only time it has been beaten in the last four runs was at Epsom which is a track which some horses can't handle. She had in fact beaten the winner of that race previously. Beatrice Aurore may follow her home and might be ew value but I will just rely on Izzi Top.
3.35 York - Es Que Love 0.5pt win - Caledonia Lady 0.5 pt win
Pearl Secret will go off odds on here and in truth was mightly impressive last time. This is tougher and Es Que Love won't hang around. I can see Jamie Spencer motionless in behind but let's take him on as Caledonia Lady was an eyecatcher last time and will be staying on at the end.
4.20 Salisbury Royal Reyah 1 pt win
A good return from a break last time over five furlongs but probably is better over six and a reproduction should be good enough here. I was going to go for three point win but the price of 2/1 is shorter than I wanted so will just have the one point and save ammuntion for tomorrow when there looks to be a couple of really good possibilities.

Running Profit for May 25 points - April profit was 22.5 points
Toto Skyllachy could not defy the weight pull with Caragold but gave it a good go and the pair pulled clear - another example of where I should have backed them both or done an exacta. Each way meant in reality no harm done but, due to heavy support late on, the sp was 10/3 and I will record a loss of 0.5pts.
There was an amazing plunge on Quixote. After touching 20/1 on here it was backed into 5/1 joint favourite. It was only a minimum bet for me on a quite day but a few punters must have really fancied it. One to watch next time perhaps.
3.00 YORK - The Cheka 0.5pt win - Restiadargent 0.5 pt win
I prefer Mayson over Hoof It today but both are a bit too short so I will waste a point and take them both on with a couple that represent better value. The Cheka did beat Mayson first time out so is a worthy challenger but I would have liked a lower draw. The French three year old Restiadargent will handle the surface and could also provide an upset.
3.55 LINGFIELD - Tawaasul - 3 pts win
The Haggas yard is in good form and I was pleasantly surprised to see this one available at 15/8 due to the strength of the Knight horses and also Sir Mike. This horse is well entered up, ran well on debut last year and should take this.
5.05 LINGFIELD - Knightly Escapade - 1 pt win
I am very keen to take on Kangaroo Court here and it was a question of Knightly Escapade or Star Commander. I decided against the latter due to the extra trip but it should suit Knightly Escapade provided he is fit which is an unknown. Currently 6/1 so worth taking a chance.
Good luck today - all comments appreciated

A good win for Lesley's Choice and the race panned out as I hoped with Arganil missing the break. The price was a most disappointing sp of 13/8 (I will settle at 6/4 for the account). Hopefully if you followed me in you got at least 5/2 on here.
Edged Out did not progress from her debut and never looked in with a chance.
Today is trappy and difficult to find much overpriced but :-
4.00 BEVERLEY - TOTO SKYLLACHY - 1 pt each way
At the weight Carragold should reverse form with Toto Skyllachy but the betting may have over reacted as Toto Skyllachy hit the front a long way out and was idling close home. If he is produced slightly later this time he could win again and is not a 7/1 shot.
If less than eight run just do win only.
5.00 BEVERLEY - QUIXOTE 0.5pt each way
Quite a few with chances in this and I was going to put up Mistress of Rome as she stayed on well last time but on viewing the race again the second was just stopping. Quixote seems to have improved as a three year old and now back on turf with Ryan Moore up could run ok at 14/1 or bigger to minimum stakes.
Over at Kempton nothing takes the eye except for DEN'S GIFT in the last who goes with a proper jockey for the first time for ages at a course he likes. The draw has put me off as he likes to front run so reluctantly no bet here.

Running profit for May 24 points - profit for April was 22.5 points at starting price.
Another good winner on Saturday with Global Village winning at 9/1. Although plenty of 12/1 was available on here the running profit will be settled at starting price. I got my staking completely wrong but such is life !I wouldn't give up on Certral as it evidently didn't handle the ground and Kakapura was right there at the finish.
Over the years I have learnt to forgive losers a bad run as they tend to pop up next time and this has happened already this month with Resplendant Alpha and Lady Phil both winning nest time up.
As far as today is concerned:-
3.15 WOLVERHAMPTON LESLEY'S CHOICE 2 pts win
If Arganil runs to his rating then he should win this but he hasn't run here since 2008, has an apprentice on board and can blow the start. He would have to be near his best anyway to beat Lesley's Choice who is weighted to confirm place with Red Cape and Steelcut. Assuming Arganil starts favourite then I think we should take him on.
5.40 WINDSOR EDGED OUT 1 pt win
At Newbury on debut this horse was well behind after two furlongs but finished as well as anything including the winner. Three winners have already come out of the race so the form is good. We obviously don't know how good the others are but they need to be very smart if Edged Out has learnt from the experience and doesn't get too far behind.
That's all for today - good luck

Trappy at present due to the ground so stakes modest today:-
2.50 ASCOT - CERTRAL 1PT EACH WAY
This yard is going well at present and Certral ran an eyecatching race at Nottingham last time being held out the back and coming through to finish second under hand riding. The stable like using apprentice jockeys when horses are fancied and there is probably none better at present that today's. Being fron a betting yard it is likely to be punted but you get around 6/1 at 9.30 am.
3.25 ASCOT - GLOBAL VILLAGE - 0.5 PTS EACH WAY
No apprentice here but I thought I would stick with the yard and have a go at this race because if you do find the winner the odds are rewarding. I will take a chance that a low draw is beneficial and the drop back down to 7 furlongs should be fine as he has never won over a mile despite the brave effort last time. Bit of a lottery so fingers crossed with this one !
4.55 LINGFIELD - KAKAPURA 1 PT WIN
Great effort last time back over seven fulongs running a fast time and nearly winning. This will be difficult but he is priced at 8/1 which is a bit of value. I will back this one win only as it is quite possible at Lingfield to be unlucky in running and will have to be annoyed if it finishes second.
Running profit for May 23 points - profit for April was 22.5 points at sp.
Got it right but got in wrong yesterday ! David Livingstone proved to be a false favourite and I was right to take him on. He reached 2.6 on here just before the off which was incredibly short. However Call To Battle was not the one to beat him so a loss of a point on the day - so be it !
7.45 Ascot Masai Moon 1 pt win
This will be harder than the easy win at Southwell last time and he may not be quite as good back on turf. Ascot has sometimes been compared to an all weather track since it was re designed and so it may suit Masai Moon. The form of his previous run at Southwell again is holding up well with Powerful Presence and Memory Cloth both winning next time. 11/2 is available at present which seems good enough
Like yesterday I am only putting the one up for today with the ground as it is.
Running profit for May 24 points - profit for April was 22.5 points at sp.
Another profitable day with Gorgeous Goblin going in at 11/4 and Safari Sunseeker going oh so close at 14/1 - much bigger than that as usual at the time of posting and was a good ew winner.
I have put up a bet every day so far but have been relying on the all weather tracks with the ground as it is. It really is difficult to back with any confidence at present on the turf. Just the one for today for that reason :-
2.35 Chester Call To Battle 1 pt win.
Aiden O'Brien's David Livingston has been well backed today and the trainer has a fine record at Chester. However had he been trained by anyone else he would surely be a much bigger price and there is no obvious reason why he should turn round the form with Call To Back who beat him last time. This is not a two horse race by any means so I am keeping stakes low but at 5/2 there is just a little value left.
Nothing else today - good luck all any comments welcome
GREaT DAY YESTERDAY - Running profit for May 18.5 points at sp - profit for April was 22.5pts.
Alpha Tauri did the business for us at 7/1 and in what style in a very fast time with Beachwood Bay chasing him home. Didn't do the exacta but it paid £58.63.
Chester will be good to watch today but the bets are on the all weather :-
4.00 Southwell Gorgeous Goblin 2pts win
Good form at the track which is essential here winning two starts ago. Didn't last the 6 furlongs last time but the form of Masai Moon has been highlighted in this blog previously. Trading around 11/4 at present.
5.50 Kempton Sudden Wish 1pts win
This has been poorly ridden on occasions and has often been given too much to do. The longer straight will help today and a reproduction of previous runs should be good enough
8.00 Kempton Safari Sunseeker 0.5 pts ew
Larwood is going to take all the beating here but betting is all about value and Safari Sunseeker is 20/1 at present and this is just too big. It is drawn well and the stable is in form and perhaps the drop in trip will also help. I will probably do the exacta in case they finish 1st and 2nd.
Thanks for viewing - good luck today - any comments welcome
Running profit for May 10.5 pts - April profit was 22.5 pts at sp.
Good effort from Midnight Rider just touched off at 11/2 yesterday. I am having a number of seconds recently much like last month and had a couple of these won the profits would be even better.
3.45 Southwell Alpha Tauri 1 pt each way
Only Ten Per Cent has been a revelation recently and the win last time was spectacular but he has gone up again and has a different jockey today. With Nezami badly drawn the main dangers are Alpha Tauri and Beachwood Bay and I just favour Alpha Tauri at the prices.
Art Dzeko should win the 4.45 but has yet to race on the track.
Lindoro - 5.15 - is far too short and I might even lay at odds on.
7.10 Catterick President Lincoln 0.5 pt ew
This is too tight a race and I shouldn't play really but there are fitness doubts about a few of these with Ruth Carr's horses running well Klynch mat be overbet. President Lincoln beat a subsequent winner last time and at 10/1 is the value bet to small stakes.
